"After just under 1 hour of driving in traffic that was not exactly what we were used to, we reached our hotel on a busy street not far from the center of Sousse with the medina, the old town center, surrounded by fortress walls.
Everything was already prepared at the reception, very friendly and helpful staff, who also spoke German.
The tourist tax/bed tax for the hotel was due immediately.
But nice: we were asked to go to the bar beforehand to be able to enjoy a welcome drink there in peace.
Afterwards, we were accompanied to our room in block 2 (there are 5 in total), with an elevator to the 3rd. floor.
A few things were explained in the room, but unfortunately not what the 2 remotes for the large TV were for. There was also no description available, and there were no German channels; those were then technically "installed" 3 days later, and upon request, a verbal explanation for the controls was also provided.
The air conditioning worked perfectly and was easy to operate.
The room itself was large with a double bed, in which we were able to sleep well and quietly; there were also small nightstands. The blackout curtains were good.
Everything was also available for a longer stay, such as 2 chairs with a table, a sofa, an electric trouser press, a desk, a sideboard, and a large wardrobe, containing a refrigerator and a safe. The option for coffee and tea preparation was available, and bottled water was provided fresh every day.
The room was laid with laminate, unfortunately already very worn with some edges.
The bathroom was laid with tiles, and there, in addition to the toilet and sink, there was a large bathtub with a shower, separated by a glass wall, although with a high entry. There was a hairdryer and also some bathroom accessories. The vanity mirror was not well attached.
The storage space in the bathroom was rather limited.
On the small balcony with a table and 2 chairs, we had a nice view over the pool to the nearby beach area.
The room was cleaned well daily, and the bath towels were changed daily without being asked.
The Wi-Fi worked perfectly all the way to the beach area.
At the beach, both lounge chairs and a sun umbrella were offered free of charge.
What was also not nice here: the lounge chairs in the pool area were often already occupied by towels before 8 a.m.
The hotel with the large lobby always made a clean impression, although the unsightly laminate floor in front of the Yasmine Bar does not fit the overall impression of the 5-star hotel. A better selection of diet drinks would also be desirable.
We were just barely satisfied with the breakfast selection, even though we have experienced better. But what did not work at all: there were almost no cups and paper cups for hot coffee or tea; that does not meet our expectations. We only received saucers upon explicit request. Drinking glasses for the juices were in short supply. Management is absolutely required here, and not just to watch. The large selection of cakes and various types of bread should be highlighted.
There were daily changing dishes at the lunch and dinner buffet; we were very satisfied with that overall.
We really enjoyed the dinner menu at the specialty restaurant Le Must.
The tour operators in the hotel offer several day trips to many sights.
Otherwise, you can go for a stroll in the old town, although as a tourist you have to live with always being approached, which is annoying.
Overall, we give it a very good and look forward to being guests here again sometime."
