"This is a lovely family, all age children hotel. The hotel is immaculately clean and constant cleaning going on. The restaurant has many choices of food with child favourites of many choices and adult favourites, it’s kept as hot as possible and some freshly cooked. The staff are extremely hard working and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Maria for looking after me a breakfast and lunch, you made my restaurant visits very comfortable.
The pool areas are great, but there are not enough sun beds and umbrellas are very few, if you don’t get up at 05:00 in the morning you have no hope of getting an umbrella, as the weather is extremely hot this time of year, shade is essential, and sun beds left after 05:15 are few and far between. The adult pool was very appreciated away from the constant same note music that gets louder and louder as the activities were coming to the end, now I’m showing my age 😁
I made sure the hotel was aware I am a wheelchair user before my arrival, the first room didn’t have room for my electric wheelchair, it had to be left by the front door just inside as the room was totally too small to get it into and the socket to charge it was the other side of the room. Reception promised to change me the following day. I was moved to a ‘wheelchair friendly room’. I certainly would never call it that, it was a bit bigger but still difficult to get my wheelchair around easily. The wet room shower was just inside the bedroom door that didn’t close with no handle or lock. The shower head was tiny and the bracket wouldn’t angle the shower head over the seat, the water was freezing to boiling hot that I had to jump clear from which is difficult, so had to keep it on cold though it still went up to extremely hot and back to cold, the drain is right by the door, so the water seeped into the bedroom. I had to wear flip flops while I showered because the floor was slippery and I had several falls which with arthritis is not good. The bathroom and bedroom area by the bathroom door was a death trap. After the issues with denying a move was agreed, I didn’t think it was worth the hassle of complaining again.
The shops selling souvenirs have no prices and you’re charged according to how much they feel you will pay. You are heavily pressured with promises of discounts which is untrue and followed round the shop having items showed to you.
The trips are very good, prices excellent. We went camel riding for a good hour. Private catamaran trip was reasonably priced and amazing, but again different people different prices, the seller delighted in telling us this.
But!! STAY CLEAR OF THE HORSE RIDES, my poor mare struggled, she kept trying to go back before the end of the walk was over, she was exhausted and overheated even though it was 17:00 it was still too hot for a horse to be working The owner hit one of the horses with my walking stick which made it rear in pain and shock, plus the poor creature kept going around in circles and I noted a back leg was swinging wrongly. 3rd horse just fell onto its side with my granddaughter on it, no warning it just totally collapsed. Non of the horses were well cared for, just treated harshly if they didn’t obey and were clearly badly overworked. I know for a fact the horses had already done one long ride and at speed before we started our hours ride. Totally applauded and felt terrible for these poor creatures who cannot complain or the clear signs given are not taken into account. I have ridden many horses and have never seen such badly cared for creatures as these were, they were just a commodity to gain money from with minimal outgoings. If I could have walked back and lead the horse I certainly would have, I just had to keep encouraging her with nice words and pats. If these horses are boycotted then something will be done. I did bring my concerns to the man running the trips, he didn’t look pleased."
