"My friend and I visited Le Sultan for seven nights in November, 2025. We had a fantastic week - here are our thoughts…
ROOM - we had a large room each with a garden view. Shower was always hot and the bed was comfy. There was a decent sized balcony with a small airer to dry washing. The light on the balcony is centrally controlled and in the winter is only turned on every Saturday evening, so you couldn’t read outside. Same for the air conditioning… It was turned off for winter. The free safe was a bonus though and the fridge came in handy. The hotel is cutting down on plastic, so each afternoon a glass carafe of cold water is delivered to your room. These can also be picked up at the bar.
POOL - it was too cold to go in, but the grounds are lovely and the padded cushion to go on the sunbed was appreciated. Beautiful view from the pool right onto the sea.
FOOD - my friend and I are both vegetarian so we’re used to not having such a big choice. We ate well though. The omelettes cooked to order at breakfast were delicious as was the fresh pasta in the evening. We often took pizza and ice cream out to the pool at lunchtime. The desserts in particular were delicious. Often they look nice, but are mostly sugar free. Not here, they were all so good! The staff in the restaurant are lovely. Our helpful waiter, Sami had our table ready for us every morning and evening with our drinks waiting. We gave him a small tip at each meal which was really appreciated. So worth it for the incredible service… He even put fresh flowers on the table for us one morning. Between meals, there’s a small kiosk near the pool serving paninis and waffles. We only used it once as we were always full from the buffet restaurant! We didn’t use our al a carte voucher as neither of the two restaurant menus were particularly vegetarian friendly.
ENTERTAINMENT - if there was any low point, I think it was this. Maybe it was the end of the season, but the acts weren’t great. The bar is lovely to sit in though and has comfortable chairs.
AMBIENCE - at first we thought the hotel was empty as it was cloudy on our first day and there was genuinely not one person outside! When the sun shone, there were a few more folk around and we met some lovely people from Northern Ireland and Liverpool. Being quieter meant no queues for food or at the bar. Local Tunisian people do visit the hotel on a Saturday into Sunday, so it was slightly busier then. The staff on the front desk were so helpful and friendly and it was easy to change money. The stables are definitely worth a visit. The horses were very well cared for and the Shetland Pony was beautiful.
AREA - the whole area around the hotel is a bit run down, but as we travelled around, we realised that a lot of the country is like that. You have to live in a rich nation to have recycling as a top priority and you do see blue plastic bags lying everywhere. There are taxis right outside which we used to go to Hammamet medina. They don’t have seatbelts, but are very cheap. If you walk straight on past the TUI Blue tennis courts and turn right, there’s a couple of small souvenir shops and a cafe. The owner of the first shop is great and the prices are good.
There’s a cash machine outside reception. You are charged a fee even if you have a Monzo or Revolut card as it’s government controlled, but that also means the exchange rate is exactly the same whether you go to a posh bank or a little exchange kiosk.
OVERVIEW - great hotel. Definitely on the high end scale of tourist hotels. Even our all inclusive band was fabric which made it posh according to people at the airport!! Would definitely recommend staying here."
