"Dear Hotel Management,
I am writing to express my disappointment with the way I was treated upon arrival and the service I received during my first evening at your hotel.
After travelling for over 12 hours, I arrived at around 8:30 p.m., expecting to check into my prepaid room and rest. Instead, I had an extremely unpleasant experience at reception.
I explained that I do not use credit or debit cards and offered to pay a €50 cash deposit. However, the conversation quickly became uncomfortable. Manuel, the receptionist, noticed a card in my wallet and questioned me about it without knowing whether it was valid or even in use. I found this unnecessary and disrespectful. There is a difference between explaining hotel policies and making a guest feel as though they are being dishonest.
I was explicitly told that I could not be taken to my room until the minibar had been locked and that I would have to wait. I was then left waiting in the lobby. The minibar could easily have been locked after I had been taken to my room. Despite being willing to leave a €50 cash deposit, I was subjected to this unnecessary and humiliating treatment.
Both staff members behaved in an arrogant and disrespectful manner. They made comments that clearly implied that I was being subjected to this treatment because I had not paid the full deposit. Their tone and attitude were also deeply condescending, as though I deserved to be treated this way as a consequence of not paying it.
Despite having fully paid for my accommodation in advance, I was refused access to my own room until the minibar had been locked. Will ı take someting while he is on the way?? I made 4 nights reservation I am not running !!! I find it completely unacceptable that paying guests should be treated in such a humiliating and dismissive manner over a deposit, particularly when I was willing to leave a €50 cash deposit.
I understand that the hotel has deposit procedures, but the way they were communicated was unacceptable. I was told that I would have to return to reception every day if I did not pay the full €200 deposit.
The check-in process took far too long. Despite having paid for my accommodation in advance, I was left standing in the lobby for an unreasonable amount of time, waiting for the minibar to be locked before I was allowed to access my room. The process took much longer than it should have, with little consideration for how exhausted I was after such a long journey. I found both the unnecessary delay and the way I was treated during this time disrespectful and unacceptable.
Unfortunately, the problems continued after I finally reached my room. It took approximately an hour for the beds to be joined together, my slippers took 45 minutes to arrive, the shower attachment was faulty, the doorstop was broken, and there were only two clothes hangers in the room. I also called Guest Services four times without receiving an answer or a return call.
After such a long journey, this was far from the welcome I expected. What upset me most was not the deposit policy itself, but the attitude, lack of consideration and poor communication I experienced throughout the evening.
I would appreciate it if management reviewed this situation, including the conduct of Manuel at reception and Agus from the Guest Experience team, and explained how these issues will be addressed. I also believe that the overall experience warrants appropriate consideration of compensation.
Every guest deserves to be treated with respect and to receive the level of service they have paid for. Unfortunately, my first evening at your hotel fell well below these basic expectations.
I look forward to receiving your response."
