There are pros and cons to this hotel, starting with the positive. The hotel is kept very clean (although the pool tiles need some attention) the staff are a credit to the hotel, they have all been very polite, helpful and friendly so far. We are self catering so cannot comment on the food as we haven't sampled it. The rooms are basic but spacious, ours doesn't have an oven just a 2 ring hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Washing up liquid, tea towel, shampoo/bodywash and a hairdryer are provided and you can get an ironing board from reception. The shower is one of the best I've had while on holiday. The beds are comfortable. All rooms have a balcony/terrace that over look the pool, which are nice to sit at in the evening once it's gone quieter. Maid service is provided daily and you only have to ask if you want something. There are plenty of sunbeds at this current time of year. I wouldn't call it 4 star but it's definitely a decent 3 star. if you are looking for a more budget friendly hotel and aren't to bothered about walking and don't have mobility issues then this could be the one for you.
Now the cons, it's a 20min walk down to the beachfront mostly down hill but that's up hill on the way back, there are shops and bars along the way. It cost about 14euro in a taxi to Fanabe, 11euro to La Pinta beach and about 8euro to Los Americas. The hotel does seem to have a somewhat mixed clientele with plenty of what I'll politely describe as Brits who let the side down. Dont get me wrong there are many attentive parents here, but there are also parents who seems to think parenting is optional once you get on holiday and have no regard for other people who are trying to enjoy their holiday and are simply letting their children run a muck. Won't lie, I did choose this time of year to come away thinking there would be less children as mine are all grown up and my husband and I are at a stage in our lives where we are just starting off holidaying alone again. That being said, I'm no fun police and am aware kids are on holiday to enjoy themselves and I have no problem with boisterous kids but there comes a point when you should be stepping in as a parent and telling your kids that literally just screaming and shouting at the top of their lungs for hours is unacceptable. Ive been to other hotels where the lIfe guard will step in and tell children when they're getting out of hand or like today when I had to tell the same child four times that I didn't want to be shot in the face with his super soaker but that's not the case here, so where does the responsibility fall as the child's parents were no where in sight. I feel the hotel has a responsibility to make sure all its guests enjoy themselves, we've all saved to come on holiday and should be able to enjoy it. Because of the way the hotel is built, sound from the pool ie children screaming, pool music (which is often played so loud you can't here your headphones) and noisy residents echoes around the building and carries into the apartments from open balcony doors (it's too hot to have them closed) this makes it very difficult to relax around the pool or in your apartment during the day. I think the hotel should consider a time slot maybe 1pm-3pm where music is either switched off or play something more tranquil at a much lower volume for those who need some down time. There are sunbeds on the back of the hotel where its quieter but it lacks any personality. In my opinion it would be great to see it made into an adults only area with a raised plunge pool or even somewhere to dip your toes and a bit of greenery and some screening to block the derelict view opposite would transform the space.
If non of the cons bothers you then it won't be a problem but sadly for me, I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend the hotel to family and friends which is a shame as with a few changes it could be a different experience."
