"We’ve just returned from a 7 night stay at the MarSenses Paradise Club Hotel in Menorca (myself, my partner & our 6 year old).
Positives -
* The staff are friendly and work so hard. Especially the restaurant staff & the entertainment team!
* The entertainment is good, there was always something going on around the pool in the day for both adults & children. We didn’t watch the night time entertainment so can’t comment on that but we did join in with the ‘White Party’ that they had on one evening which was good & something a little different.
* Rooms are nice, we had a pool view room that was situated above the reception area. Comfy beds, air conditioning worked great, it was spacious and it had a kettle, microwave and a large fridge with a small freezer inside which we found really useful. Rooms are cleaned every other day which didn’t bother us as we never felt like they needed cleaning every day, on the days our room was cleaned it was always done to a high standard. Our maid was lovely too and always made an effort with our little boy. We did have an issue with a few ants near our balcony door on the first day but we let reception know and within the hour someone had been up and sorted it and the ants never returned.
* We found the all inclusive food to be of good quality and we always enjoyed what was to offer at all 3 meal times. We also ate from the snack bar a couple of times and again this was ok, they usually always had some sort of burger, hotdogs & chips and then fruit/salad and bread/pastries at the snack bar. We did see some reviews before we came about the restaurant staff not cleaning/clearing tables inside the restaurant quickly enough at meal times and guests having to do it themselves but we didn’t have any issues with this, as soon as you was finished at your table the staff were straight over clearing and cleaning it.
* The location of the hotel is perfect, the harbour is literally right outside, just a short walk through the shopping centre, lots of restaurants, bars & shops and the beach is just 10 minutes down the road.
Negatives -
* We felt like the check in experience was a little rushed and chaotic, we were asked to come back and forth for different things therefore felt things weren’t really explained to us.
* The restaurant can become very busy and it felt too small for the amount of guests that were staying at the hotel, most days there was a queue for each meal time, which again can become a bit of a pain especially with young children. There was also one night we were told we couldn’t sit inside for our evening meal as there was no tables left, so it was a case of waiting or coming back later.
* The snack bar could also become very busy with queues waiting for drinks, I think a self service drinks machine would be a much better option at the snack bar and would reduce queues.
* The ‘no reserving sun beds’ rule was also not enforced, most sun beds were reserved by 8am. Although in the quieter months this may not be an issue we found as the week went on and the busier it became the earlier people were down reserving beds which again when you want to spend the day by the pool and you’ve got younger children you don’t want to be setting an alarm for 6.30am while on holiday to make sure you get a sun bed.
* The cleanliness around the pool area, both snack bars & outdoor seating area was poor (probably the biggest negative of the holiday). Although people should clean up after themselves, some people just don’t and this resulted in cups of soft drinks, alcohol, plates of food & wrappers all being left all over the place. The bins weren’t emptied regularly enough and tables/chairs were never wiped over either, we didn’t see one member of staff cleaning/tidying up around these areas at all throughout our whole stay, for a 4 star hotel this is really disappointing.
* There are LOTS of bees/wasps around the pool area/snack bars, again the amount of things that are left lying around and the overflowing bins probably don’t help this but the hotel does nothing to try and deter them either. There were also lots of flys in the inside bar/seating area and the reception area, again nothing around to try and deter these.
Overall we had a lovely time and made the most of our stay but for a 4 star hotel and the amount of money we paid we were a little disappointed with certain aspects, especially compared with other 4 star hotels we have stayed in. Looking at other recent reviews on here other people have similar views, with a few changes this hotel could be brilliant but at the moment I would definitely say it’s more 3 star than it is 4 star."
