"We stayed at the Universal Hotel Perla for a week all-inclusive at the end Aug/beginning of September. S’illot is a beautiful unspoilt resort and the hotel has prime position, across a small promenade from the beach with restaurants, shops and bars within seconds and across the small bridge, a 5-minute walk away, there are even more.
The hotel is spotlessly clean with friendly, helpful staff. The bedrooms have decent storage (could have done with slightly longer hanging and a couple more drawers but this is being picky) and lovely walk-in showers which were very powerful. Toiletries were included. My only comment is that there wasn’t a plug near the mirror, should you not wish to use the hotel provided hairdryer which was situated in the bathroom.
The pool area, although small, was perfect. We had read comments regarding having to reserve sun beds but never had to and we didn’t get to the pool until 8.30am-9am each day. There should have been a pool bar there but it was never open. However, the hotel operated a waiter/waitress service and there were bells to call someone, if needed.
The restaurant served delicious food with a good variety of options across breakfast, lunch and dinner. The omelettes were made to order by the lovely Naima and were delicious. The restaurant manager, Rosa, was also amazing. My mum uses a rollator and as soon as we arrived on our first day, she reserved a table for us for the duration of our stay. We never experienced an issue placing drinks orders in the restaurant and must thank Caroline for her friendliness and encouragement when we tried to order in Spanish.
The rooftop bar was perfect. The views were stunning and the service from Artur and Brayan was great. It was lovely having live entertainment every other evening and background music on the alternate nights. It could only have been improved by better lighting where the entertainment was. It didn’t detract from our enjoyment but the artists were struggling once it got dark.
The only thing that lets this beautiful hotel down are the lifts. One is incredibly small and both are VERY slow. There are no indicators on any floor other than ground/reception and you cannot choose the direction you wish to travel. This meant you often waited a long time for a lift to come and quite often it was then going in the opposite direction. As my mum has mobility issues, this did cause a lot of frustration and I truly hope it’s something that can be addressed as it would make this hotel perfect.
I would still very much recommend the Universal Hotel Perla."
