"Any review is obviously based on whether you think the hotel has met your needs so this may be quite subjective but on holiday I clean and comfortable. Great food helps but you can always opt to eat out. The hotel was very centrally located for shops and eateries and the area is quite spectacular.
Quite a few things one might expect to be included, like using the room safe which was charged extra. I would not recommend using their water machine either. Expensive at 75 euros for 500ml ration but we couldn’t fill our bottles even using two rations each. Much cheaper to buy from supermarket across the road. A lot of cyclists clumping about in boots and Lycra; bike cases and cycles stored on balconies. Perhaps a secure bike storage area is needed.
I know you can’t control the weather but we arrived to solid downpours. Open air walkways and stairs tiled in slick ceramic do not fare well in heavy rain. We’re all seeing more unpredictable weather - hotels need to be better prepared for flash flooding.
The Accommodation - Bath right next to bed (and I have bruises from stumbling into in the dark). Bath was chipped in several places. There is absolutely no privacy whilst using shower (door didn’t close properly so frequently flooded the floor). We were lucky the toilet had an opaque glass door. I’m just not into a bathroom in my sleeping space. However we knew that going in so we accepted that but I wouldn’t repeat the experience.
Usually hotels have a ridiculous lack of storage and hanging space for two adults for a week. However, there was a balcony towel rail, hooks about the bath, shoe storage in the luggage stand, decent sized bedside tables and under counter space at sink and room for two suitcases under the wardrobe. Generous number of hangers and shelves too.
The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable, less so the sofabed which was very uncomfortable for the only indoor seating. It required either perching on the end or sitting back with your feet hanging over the edge and slowly sliding off but the room overall was nice and the balcony was really nice and the seats sufficed most of the time.
Cleanliness and Service - Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful.
The public spaces were cleaned frequently and looked immaculate. The rooms are serviced every alternate day which is fine by me. Regarding cleanliness, having bent down to pick up something which fell under the bed whilst packing, I was confronted with several months worth of dust and fluff between the bed and the side table.
Restaurant - Nice food. Plenty of choice at breakfast but I thought the dinner mains needed improvement. I would certainly have expected more tapas type choices but there was never more than one or two options. Hot buffet is always trickier than the cold bits. Breakfast coffee and orange juice were a highlight and a very good choice of hot and cold food. Table service for drinks was snappy too. The salad bar never changed from basic and I was disappointed with the fruit selection but the desserts were very varied and looked tempting.
So overall while not as great as we had expected from reviews it was a pleasant stay."
