"We stayed for a week in October on an all-inclusive basis with our two children, aged 4 and 7, and my parents. We were genuinely really impressed. For a relatively short-haul family holiday from the UK, I honestly don’t think you could ask for much more.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting right on the beach, with plenty of pools, including a children’s area with five slides and a splash area.
The staff were one of the biggest highlights. Everyone was friendly and accommodating and always said hello as you walked past. They were particularly lovely with the children and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. The level of service was impressive throughout.
We stayed in a family room with a king-size bedroom and a separate living area with a sofa bed. The main bed was really comfortable. The sofa bed wasn’t particularly comfortable, but it was easily big enough for me and my four-year-old son.
The food was excellent. I’m vegan and contacted the hotel before we travelled to make sure there would be suitable options. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and told me I could just ask if I wanted something specific and the chef would prepare it. In reality, I didn't need to because the buffet had plenty of choice, the vegan dishes were clearly labelled and, most importantly, really tasty. There was lots of variety generally, including freshly cooked options each evening and a children’s section with all the basics. Our kids particularly loved the ice cream station, especially being able to scoop their own and add sprinkles.
The beach is gorgeous. The sea was warm and crystal clear during our stay, with lots of fish to spot, and it stays shallow for a long way out, which was ideal with young children.
I went out for a few runs while we were there. The immediate area outside the hotel isn’t especially attractive, but there are some lovely running routes along the beach and towards the nature reserve.
The all-inclusive drinks offering was much better than I expected. There was a good choice of genuinely nice cocktails rather than just the basic all-inclusive option. The kids loved the smoothies and, unsurprisingly, the seemingly endless supply of ice lollies.
The absolute highlight for our children was the kids’ club. Kay, Teddy and Bel were fantastic and our kids absolutely adored them. They wanted to go to the mini disco every single day, and we ended up downloading the songs in the taxi on the way home!
There were also daily activities for adults at around 3.30pm, including things like clay modelling, fabric painting and sand-jar art. We ended up doing several of these together as a family and they were a really nice way to spend the latter part of the afternoon.
The only real disappointment was that, because we visited towards the end of the season in mid-October, some of the restaurants had already closed. It did make us feel as though we weren’t quite getting to experience everything the hotel normally offers. Embat, the beach restaurant, was one we particularly missed as it would have been ideal for lunch while spending the day on the beach. It didn’t spoil the holiday, but it’s something I’d want to know when booking for October.
A couple of practical tips for families: bring your own inflatables if you can, as they’re quite expensive in the nearby shops. If you’re heading back through Palma Airport, it’s worth thinking ahead about food for the journey as eating at the airport can be pricey. There are loads of private taxi hires to and from the airport that are very reasonable if you'd prefer that than a tour provider coach.
Overall, we had a fantastic week. It managed to work equally well for young children, parents and grandparents, which isn’t always easy to find. The setting, staff, food, pools and kids’ club were all excellent, and we came home feeling that we’d had a genuinely relaxing family holiday. We’d very happily return."
