"I never normally write reviews unless I honestly believe the company/ experience was fantastic and deserves a great review, and I have never written a bad review before as everyone has different expectations/standards and a bad review can be very damaging to a business. However my experience with this hotel was so disappointing I felt I had to write something because if I had seen a review like this before I booked I most likely would've chosen a different hotel and I wish I did.
The hotel is most definitely not a 4* and I am surprised Jet2 has given this a 4* rating (completely miss leading). Compared to the RUI hotels for example which have 4* ratings this hotel seems like a 2* at best and that is being generous. It obviously ticks a lot of boxes in regards to facilities on offer but the standard is just not great. The cleaners also stole €130 from our room. Maybe that's why I feel so strongly about warning people off this hotel. They went through 3 different bags and took a bit of money from each bag. (Two of the bags my children's bags with their pocket money in). I have never ever been stolen from in all the years I have been on holiday. Stayed in 3*, 4* and once a 5* and not once has any cleaner gone through my personal belongings and taken money. It's disgusting and totally unacceptable. Maybe it's my fault and I should have locked money away but it goes to show you the type of people working here and the standards for employees. Cleaners are usually so lovely in our past experience and so friendly. We usually give the cleaners tips when we leave as like I said most of the time they are so lovely. Be careful if you're coming here and make sure you lock up valuables.
Food - very very basic, salad and fruit is good but main meal options are very limited. Yes you have the standard pasta, chips, pizza, deserts that most AI do but honestly it's not great and I am not a fussy eater. I don't want to eat pizza and chips everyday it's nice to try new foods but there's not a lot to choose from. It not as good as your standard AI. We ate out on our last 5 nights (here for 10 days). Usually would only do one night out. Hot breakfast options not great either, food cold, eggs are interesting, sausages pink. A couple of people I spoke to round the pool were unwell from the food. Tables not cleared and reset, we had to clear tables each time we wanted to sit and eat a meal.
Pools - slides great, two main Magnus pools need some serious maintenance. Tiles broken, steps not very secure, someone actually broke one of the steps whilst we have been here. They are dirty, yes a lot of people are in them all day but the actual tiles are slimy and mouldy. My son and daughter both had ear infections and the doctor on site said he sees this so many times a day from this hotel and it's mainly due to bacteria in the pool. Splash areas look okay but did not sit by them as my children are 8, 10 and 12 so a little old for that area. We did go to the bouncy thing a couple of times but did not spend much time there.
Sunbeds not too bad, most people put towels down between 7/8 then the lifeguards ticket beds between 9/10:30. You have 40 mins to return once you have a ticket. Seems to be a lot of beds around if you're up by 9ish.
Rooms- pretty basic, not much hanging or storage space but okay. Sheets were not changed once in 10 days, no actual cleaning done just beds made and quick look though your belongings to see if you have anything worth taking. We took cups up to our room with drinks and they were never taken away. I emptied them and stacked by the bins but not removed I had to take them down. Bins not emptied either. Too busy having a look to see what they can steal and not actually cleaning the rooms. Aircon is good, WiFi in rooms is goods too.
Entertainment was okay, pretty standard to be honest and games rooms was a good add too.
Location - okay, you're in Magaluf so you know what to expect. There are some nice restaurants on the seafront (Blackbeards was lovely) and a few nice shops but it is what it is.
All in all my advice would be if your looking at reviews to see if it's worth booking then don't book. The slides are good but do not make up for other areas of the hotel which are just not up to standards. Book a better hotel and a trip to western waterpark which is great fun (we went last year). If you have booked then just roll with it, lock up your valuables, take extra money to eat out and don't book again. This has put me off ever travelling with Jet2 again. Usually use TUI and been happy with their star ratings. Cannot understand what Jet2 are thinking rating this a 4*. I also can't understand the reviews saying it's fantastic and don't listen to the bad reviews. It's not fantastic it's basic, and you can get a much much better hotel for a similar or even lower cost than what this is."
