"We have just got back from a 10 day stay at this hotel. There is absolutely no way that this is a four star hotel. The room was of average size there was only one drawer and 10 coat hangers for up to 3 people.! the bathroom door did not close. On entering the bathroom and looking at the door you could see it was totally warped. There was a large chunk missing from the bottom of it. The mirror was completely rusted as was the showerhead. The towels were all but thread bare. On day three mould started to appear on the ceiling. Within an hour, it had completely covered the ceiling and migrated into the bedroom. We went straight to reception and reported it. The receptionist was obviously used to this as he was not surprised at all. He told us to return to our room and somebody would come along. We immediately left for our room which was a supposedly superior sea view room. As we approached the room, the housekeeper was leaving and she agreed what a terrible state the ceiling was in. She said somebody would be along to sort it out. Five minutes later a man arrived with a bucket of bleach and a mop.!! he proceeded to clean the mould off of the ceiling which of course replaced the horrendous mould smell with the smell of bleach. This made us realise why there were no doors on the wardrobe my guess is had there been doors on the wardrobe the clothes would’ve been covered inmould. Everything that was taken out of the one drawer in the room felt damp. The walls in the room were damaged with black marks and the public areas had thread bare carpets missing skirting boards and damaged walls. As for the food., the breakfast buffet was the normal buffet of a hotel, so a fairly good standard except everything was cold. The evening buffet had a good selection of salads and all the usual meats cheeses, et cetera and the dessert with the normal cakes that looked better thanthey tasted., however the so-called hot buffet, which we renamed the tepid buffet, left a lot to be desired. The meat was very often so dry that it was unable to be cut. Also, the tables are rammed together as this is a large hotel and the public spaces are not large enough for the amount of rooms there. The tables of two were only a few inches apart, making it difficult to get to the buffet. This also applied to the pool area. There were nowhere near enough sunbeds to go round and at 5:30 in the morning. I heard a noise and looked out over the balcony to see 10 towels had already been put out. By 730, most of the beds had gone. There is a very small beach with sunbeds at €17 a day for two beds and a parasol. These beds had all been taken by 930 in the morning. It was impossible to swim from the beach as it is basically a large children’s paddling pool covered in inflatables. The swimming pool was extremely small nowhere near big enough for the amount of people staying in the hotel. We live in Spain and have a pool and I would say our private pool was almost as big as that one. So a couple of days for us there was nowhere at all to sit and we were stuck on our very small balcony on two upright chairs asthere is really nowhere to go. It is a pretty viewbut not stunning or amazing. I guess it depends on what experience you have of other places…. Cala ferrera it’s just a 500 meter length road lined with tacky souvenir shops and restaurants. The saving grace of this hotel was it staff everysingle one was extremely pleasant. The Barcelo group does not deserve them. Would I go to this hotel again most definitely absolutely not. Would I go to cala Ferreira again? Absolutely not. Would I go to Majorca again? No."
