"Right, where do I even start?!
(See images of our Holiday and Balcony)
This was our first ever holiday abroad together as a couple, and honestly? We could not have picked a better place. The Hotel Condesa in Alcúdia, Mallorca absolutely delivered from the moment we arrived to the moment we had to drag ourselves back to the airport.
Now the staff. Oh my goodness, the staff. Where do I begin. Every single person we encountered, from the bar, to the restaurant, to the pool area, was warm, genuine and just an absolute pleasure to be around. Not in that forced, scripted hotel way. Actually lovely human beings who made us feel like we belonged there. They work incredibly hard and it shows in every little detail of your stay.
But if there is one person at this hotel who deserves their own paragraph, it is Jenna. Fluent in both Spanish and English, working on reception, and honestly one of the most helpful, professional and genuinely kind people we have ever encountered in any hotel anywhere. When our travel agent TUI completely dropped the ball on our room booking (more on that below), Jenna sorted it out without fuss, without making us feel like a burden, and with a smile the entire time. She is the definition of five gold stars. If the management are reading this, look after her, because people like Jenna are the reason guests come back. She made what could have been a stressful start to our first holiday abroad into an absolute non-issue. We cannot thank her enough.
The all-inclusive package? Exactly what it says on the tin. No awkward moments at the bar wondering if that is included. No side-eye from waiters. Just proper, stress-free holiday vibes from start to finish. All food and drinks are included and the choice is brilliant. Some premium spirits do carry a small additional charge but honestly it is well worth going all-inclusive here, it pays for itself very quickly and you will not spend your holiday watching the pennies. Just enjoy yourself, that is what it is there for.
Now let me talk about those beaches. Gold Award winning, and you will absolutely understand why the second you see them. The sand is clean, soft and golden, the water is this ridiculous shade of turquoise that looks like a screensaver but is completely real. We stood at the shoreline at sunset and genuinely could not believe we were real tourists and not in a movie.
And the sunrises? We caught one at 6am on 2nd May and honestly it was worth every second of lost sleep. Pink and purple sky through the palm trees, sea glistening in the distance. Stunning.
Oh, and the balcony view with a cold Corona in hand? Chef's kiss. Absolute scenes.
Quick heads up for fellow travellers, checkout is 11am and after that your pool and food access ends unless you extend (subject to availability and a small fee). It is all in the terms, so just read ahead and plan accordingly. Zero issue once you know.
Now about those 1 and 2 star reviews floating around, please, just ignore them. Seriously. We experienced the complete opposite of whatever those people are describing. Some people book wrong, some do not read the terms, and some just want a free holiday via a complaint. Do not let them put you off.
One last thing and this is important. If you are booking through a travel agent like TUI or similar, call the hotel directly after booking and confirm exactly what room they have assigned you. We booked a side sea view room with twin beds through TUI and paid the extra for it, but TUI communicated to the hotel that we wanted a basic economy room with a mountain and car park view. That is a TUI error, not the hotel's, and thankfully the brilliant Jenna on reception sorted it out immediately. But it could have easily ruined the trip if we had not flagged it. So just double check. Five minutes on the phone could save you a nasty surprise on arrival. And if something does go wrong on arrival, do not panic, just find Jenna. 😄
This was my first time ever in Spain. It will not be my last. Alcúdia has completely stolen my heart and the Hotel Condesa is the reason why. If you are on the fence, get off it and book. You will thank yourself later.
Oh, one more thing for those who worry about the heat. April to May was absolutely perfect for us, sitting comfortably between 23 and 26 degrees with a lovely warm cooling breeze coming off the sea. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. So if you are not a fan of scorching summer temperatures, this is your sweet spot. 🌊☀️🍺"
