"Villa 17 is a spacious property with good facilities, but there are a number of details that future guests should be aware of.
Location & Access
The villa is in a remote spot, so you definitely need a car. It’s around a 36-minute drive from the airport – the easiest way is to use Waze or Google Maps and set the destination as:
C. Austria, 10, 10 Calle Austria, Playa Blanca, CN.
Access to the complex requires manually punching in a code at the gate each time, which becomes a bit wearing if you’re going in and out often. Villa numbering isn’t very visible – we arrived in total darkness and struggled to find ours. A small light left on for late arrivals would be very helpful.
Layout & Comfort
The master bedroom is upstairs with its own en-suite, balcony, sofa, and sunbeds. The en-suite is a good size, with a large vanity unit, bath with shower over, a separate walk-in shower, bidet, and a hair dryer provided. The two double bedrooms are downstairs, which unsettled our children – we ended up having them sleep upstairs with us for the first two nights. Bathrooms are generously sized overall, with plenty of storage space. Wardrobes throughout the villa include a good supply of coat hangers.
Facilities & Maintenance
• Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms, not in the living spaces. The units work but the bright LED displays make sleeping harder. One remote control had a broken, taped-on cover.
• WiFi is strong downstairs but doesn’t reach the upstairs master bedroom.
• Several small maintenance issues: broken toilet roll holder, blinds with small holes letting light in, wobbly curtain rails (one taped in place), patio lighting that could be better.
• The dishwasher was completely empty of salt and rinse aid when we arrived – we had to buy some ourselves.
• Only one bin bag provided for a 10-day stay, no tea towel, and no kitchen hand towels.
• No hand soap was provided anywhere in the villa.
• Barbecue came with utensils and matches, but no coal or firelighters.
• The swimming pool liner is coming away from the walls, and several shattered drain covers posed a hazard – children could easily catch hands or feet. The pool cover is also quite stiff and hard to wind. A pool net was provided, but the pool floor wasn’t vacuumed once during our 10-night stay.
• Sufficient toilet paper was provided for the duration of our stay.
• The coffee machine takes Dolce Gusto pods, which are easily available from HiperDino, Lidl, and Aldi nearby.
Positives
• Welcome pack included bottled water, washing-up liquid, 4 dishwasher tablets, sponge and cloth.
• Good supply of bathroom and pool towels (6 of each).
• 6 sun loungers, plus a lovely rattan outdoor seating area sheltered from the wind – particularly nice in the evenings.
• Toiletries (shampoo and shower gel) provided.
• Good privacy around the pool area with 2m stone walls.
• A decent selection of pool inflatables for the kids.
• Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
• Fantastic local walks – a coastal path to Playa Blanca and hills nearby with great views.
• The villa owners were very responsive to messages via WhatsApp and email, which made communication easy.
• We were able to extend our stay by a few hours on departure day (for a small fee) as the next guests weren’t arriving until the following day – this was a huge convenience with a late flight."
