"Positives:
Generally clean and tidy (1 exception, see negatives). Grounds and hotel are extensive, and mostly well kept. There were daily random bottles and plates outside rooms in the coridoors but overall very tidy and well maintained facilities.
Great food, and staff. It was clear the staff really enjoyed their roles, multiple staff in restaurant had brilliant attitude, incredibly attentive and warm on every single interaction even at the busiest of times. Very nice to see smiles every morning and evening! They work so hard it was amazing.
Great location on the beach, Playa Blanca shops not far away plus beaches if you want to escape the hotel grounds. Good area for parking too if you grab a hire car for your stay, multiple spots opposite the hotel entrance and nearby.
Negatives:
General note: it was evident clear from that this hotel is predominantly patronised by an older generation who also repeatedly re-visit and return. Each to their own, and we totally respect that. We were a younger couple and throughout our stay never saw any other guests younger than mid 50s. We appreciate it is an adults only hotel, however this hotel also appears almost exclusively catered for and focussed upon, the older generations - see first few points below on atmosphere...
Zero atmosphere around pool area in daytime. Literally silent, no atmosphere, hardly anyone around, you hear the wind blowing and the pool filters/flow. It is clear most guests leave in the day, barely 20-30 people around the pool most days. We did the same and left to Flamingo beach for a more diverse vibe, and elsewhere in our car.
Zero atmosphere in the main restaurant at dinner time. Please, add some background music or something to lighten the vibe in the evenings. Very strange to have no real atmosphere while eating, felt like something was missing every evening, only small eruption and outburst of life was when the staff sang happy birthday to random tables!
Room furniture on balcony left a lot to be desired. Very cheap looking and uncomfortable white plastic chairs and table - looked more like for a cheap camping site than a 4* hotel. No cushions provided, so never used it save for hanging towels!
Our room faced the rear 'garden' (flower bed/service road) we noticed from arrival that there was a large piece of rubbish cardboard left on the service road for the entire week of our stay. Every day it was blown further down the road, out of view and we guess towards the sea... despite multiple deliveries and gardeners walking past and ignoring it.
Gym is not fit for purpose, used several times during our week, but on one occaison around 5pm the sun was glaring into the gym (despite the open door), there are no window blinds and zero air con!!! Very unpleasant to what could otherwise be a decent gym - minor improvements have a big impact in here - please update it.
Shower very weak pressure, minor point but didn't help at end of a day to wash off sun cream, sand etc.
No water provided in our room except first day (Half Board) - not really 4* as experienced in many other places.
Spa is mediocre, basically a random room in the base of hotel with posters, looks like random bazar than a spa for a reputable H10 hotel. Separate rooms for massage etc.
Staff at reception on check out were going through the motions, helpful and pleasant but nothing exceptional or worth noting, we were not asked how was our stay or anything additional and were simply told to pay our drinks invoice then left!
Overall: pleasant stay, but clearly not a diverse demographic, caters considerably to older generations who are blinded by their nostalgia and benevolence for repeat stays, overlooking what new fresh eyes can see.
Very happy to now be imminently shot down and attacked by the hotel's General Manager as he has done to other dissenting reviews on Trip Advisor, we are adding an honest and considered review, please take it in the spirit intended, to provide service to others and as some constructive criticism in the multiple areas above where you could improve. Please do not try to delegitimise and disrespect what we experienced and how we perceived it - we will not return like all your other guests, rest assured and lesson learnt!"
