"Stayed at THB in Dec and Jan at THB, I stay here several times a year as a family, with my older parents and as a single lady traveller!
I’d class this hotel as cheap and cheerful with a great location and superb staff, I have made firm friends over the years with repeat travellers and staff, so I feel happy and safe here when I’m on my own.
The staff here are absolutely fabulous they go over and above to ensure you are well taken care of, Petra on reception is the best, nothing is too much trouble, Abdul, Marcos, Chima and all the bar staff are superb and have your drink poured as soon as you go through to the bar and keep you topped up…. It’s like being regulars in your local pub whether it’s been 4 weeks, 4 months they just know!
Dani and Rosemary are the friendliest and most fun entertainment staff I have come across, they bring life to the hotel, always mingling with the guests and seem to know those who are alone and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you into the activities. I feel 100% safe and taken care of as a solo traveller thanks to the staff. I would recommend this hotel as a single traveller.
Dani has always booked some of the best acts on the island for the Brandy Well and having stayed several times at the Grand Teguise Playa I would say the entertainment Dani booked was
far superior to the real 4 star hotel. I have always found myself leaving there to come to Brandy well on an evening regardless of being AI at GTP.
The food here is just ok, the breakfast is good but the rest is ok…. I do wonder if they would benefit from a good B&B with an AI drink wrist band rather than poorer quality food from lunch onwards? I eat out so it doesn’t bother me, but I would definitely pay to have a drinks or premium drinks wristband.
Also it would be a great option to eat breakfast in the pool bar and patio area, a much nicer view/outlook, regardless of board.
Not quite sure why AI guest need or should queue for drinks during the day unless spirits but accept it’s hard to police with many different boards.
Housekeeping is amazing and rooms are spotless
The pool area is great and no sun bed wars, nice towels and beds and great access to the beach, all of which is the most appealing, the pool cool (so perhaps need to crank up the heat or leave Dani to it to take one for the team! :)
As I’ve said I’ve been here many times over the years, the new management have been making changes, it’s no bad thing (refurbished rooms are nice) and I’ve reserved judgement until now…..
No welcome drinks - not even a juice
A small carton of water not a bigger bottle
No top ups on tea/coffee/milk in the rooms
Repeat guests - fruit/fizz gone… it’s small gesture costing the hotel a few euros but makes a big impact.
Entertainment- Dani and Rosemary do an amazing job and obviously deserve their days off but to cut their presence over a weekend is terrible - no life or fun around the pool on a Saturday or Sunday …. It’s crazy, it’s sad, It’s so dead, like a cemetery, not even any background music!! Similarly some of the best acts on the island that were regulars at THB have disappeared so only 3 shows a week now, I feel for the staff at THB assuming they are having their hands tied and budgets cut. How can a great hotel with fabulous staff and entertainment go to 5 days activity and only 3 nights of decent entertainment?
This is a great location with great staff but I’m not sure the location will be enough to keep the amazing staff and repeat customers, especially as it’s now cheaper to stay HB at Grand Teguise playa than it is to stay room only or BB at THB and there’s a properly heated pool (the major downside no Dani or Rosemary, Petra or bar team) I’d honestly say this is no longer a 4 star hotel (staff are 5 star) This management/chain may have all the gear but definitely no idea!
People come back for the staff and entertainment…. There are plenty of other places to stay for cheaper and I think the regulars see that.
Price hikes with the new company are not justifiable with about average food, a significantly reduced entertainment program and only 3 shows a week. Karaoke is for after a main act….following a few drinks, not as a main act, it’s a cheap way to provide mediocre entertainment and the bar tends to be empty on these nights, which is such a shame, bring back Carl and Noel, karaoke is by no way a replacement.
Probably and sadly no more than 3 star hotel with 5 star staff.
One thing for sure the staff are an absolute credit to this hotel and they will ensure you have a good holiday despite the new challenges.
Keep up the amazing work Dani, Rosemary, Petra, Marcos, Abdul, Chima and co, you genuinely make a difference and go above and beyond."
