"Good: - air con in room is good but a little loud - Tea and coffee facilities in room (but no milk) - Fridge in room is cold - Entertainment has been decent - Thoroughly enjoyed the DJ during the day when this was put on - it was a much better atmosphere - Lifts are quick - Lovely view and close to the shops and beach, great location. Although can sometimes hear the noise from within the room. - Plenty of sun loungers and chairs available - Hotel is clean throughout - Lovely constant breeze but not cold by any means Negatives: - Bar opening at 12 upstairs is late, 11 during peak season is more reasonable - Bar upstairs seemed to open late a few times during our weeks stay - No cold water available outside during bar closing hours (between 8-12) - Snack bar help yourself drinks are diabolical. No fizz at all. Partner tried Fanta lemon and tasted like pipe cleaner. - Bottom ‘pool bar’ you have to be fully dressed. - I think it would be more beneficial to have quiet zones to allow other guests who would like to have music etc can do so - Food quality good, but very little choice and stations so wait times can we a while. Also seem to wait for food items to be replenished when empty. - We paid for all inclusive plus but was told no to certain branded drinks. Cocktails are also from a machine premix, not freshly made and tasted awful. - Not really sure what else the plus gave us. Only some branded drinks. - Very limited drinks available like iced coffees, unless we then paid for them too. - Considering an adult only hotel therefore, should not be any childish behaviour you are not allowed drinks around the pool. Life guard enforced rules sporadically but also not to everyone. - Considering paid plus feel the sage should have been included but this was an additional cost - Bar staff are not very happy/ pleasant, and only one member of staff serving. - Smoking area is not sign posted and very few chairs in the area this is allowed - Multiple levels with small alcoves where the sunbeds are, with a pool on bottom and top level. - We purchased a deluxe room but not really sure what was ‘deluxe’ about it. It was spacious but not anything special. - Did not think there much space (drawers/ shelves) in the wardrobe for clothing. - Was disappointed no hash browns at all during breakfast. - On our last night, Friday, we went to go upstairs to the Nereo bar and was told you had to have a reservation. Not quite sure what that was about when we had paid for all inclusive plus and had used on other evenings"
How to make a good hotel even better
"We were in the hotel during the 2026 summer period. Not in the very busiest weeks, but just before them. In our second week, the hotel started to get pretty busy with guests due to school vacations having begun in the North of Europe. The weather was very sunny every day with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. We had a positive experience at the hotel, and were also happy that we chose the Unique option. One of the Unique benefits was for us the lounge that served breakfast. It has both a buffet and an à la carte service. It serves breakfast until 11h, a half hour longer than the 'standard' breakfast area. The lounge has a very quiet atmosphere which is a nice way to start the day (it had a harp player once, which some found a bit unnecessary). The coffee and hot water (for tea) machine in the lounge was often broken. Staff solved this during breakfast. But when you wanted coffee or tea in the afternoon, you had to get it from outside the lounge, for which there were several options. Unique guests can also use the 'standard' breakfast area, which was also more than decent. Mediterranean breakfasts are not as elaborate as say those in Belgium, but the offering was okay. The Unique lounge has a really nice view (see the picture) towards the beach, the ocean, the dunes, and also on the 'terraces' of the hotel, with its pools and palm trees. A lovely and relaxing sight. There always is a lot of wind, which sometimes made the lounge a bit too windy. During the afternoon Unique guests can also visit the lounge to get drinks and simple sweet and savory snacks. Another useful Unique benefit is that there is a very large terrace with sunbeds with comfy thick mattresses right in front of the Unique rooms. This terrace can be used by all Unique guests but it was never crowded there. It also has good sun shade provisions. We read that on the 10th or 11th floor there is an area for nude sunbathing but we didn't check. Another Unique benefit is found in two locations near the swimming pools. There you have areas especially for Unique guests with sunbeds that have a mattress and that are better protected from the (sometimes very) strong winds. These areas also have enough shade for those who prefer a break from the sun and one has a hot tub / bubble bath. The hotel also has an à la carte restaurant (Mediterraneum) where all-inclusive guests can have dinner once every week at no extra charge (several dishes on the menu do have a surcharge). However, you must make a reservation immediately when you arrive! We were not informed of this. Ultimately, we were squeezed in, but at a time slot when staff was too busy and the service and food were lacking; the meat even was burned. We bought a rather pricey bottle of red wine but all red wines are refrigerated, completely ruining the taste. Eating at the standard buffet would have been better. All hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. English is easily spoken. There even was a Dutch-speaking employee. Any questions or requests were addressed politely. There is a 'fast service' desk for Unique guests, but it was mostly unmanned. The other desks helped us swiftly. You can ask if your room is booked by new guests on your check-out day. If it is not, there is a chance you can check out extra late (otherwise, check out is at noon). If not, you can book a reservation for the 'shower room': you can keep using your all-inclusive benefits on the entire day (even though you have already checked out of your room) and at the end of it, you can use the shower room to change clothes and freshen up. We were satisfied with the food. There was a theme every day, such as Italian, Spanish, Canarian, Asian, gala, Mediterranean. This gave a few special dishes, several of which were really nice. The themes repeated in the second week. We stayed for 12 nights and then eating from the buffet gets a bit boring. But should you stay around 7 nights, this won't be an issue. The 'Italian' theme was quite limited. There were no great pasta or risotto options for example. The Asian theme had great duck, but the sushi was very basic. There is a grill plate where fresh tuna, chicken, beef or pork steaks are baked all the time. There was little creativity or variety in the desserts. The fruit was certainly good, but the sweets were all very similar. Some of them were nice, like the chocolate mousse. There were about 6 flavors of ice cream in circulation, but only 3 were presented at a time. Why not always just offer all flavors? At the dinner buffet, the coffee machine was not available. Not great when you like an espresso with your dessert. There always was enough food, even near the end of buffet opening times. Everything was kept clean too. Our biggest gripe (we had all-inclusive Unique) were the wines. All Riojas, poured from taps. Long story short: the white wine is clearly the best. The rosé is very bland. The red wine also is chilled in the tap. No doubt that's common, but it destroys all the taste. I didn't try the sangria. If you enjoy a red wine at room temperature, all you can do is bring your own. Even the 'extra alcoholic spirits' option (which we did not get) on top of the all-inclusive arrangement didn't provide any better wine options. Don't expect Italian wines for example. Similarly for beer: there only is a standard lager (Amstel/Heineken), both with alcohol and 0.0. No white beers, blond beers, special beers, etc. We liked our 'Unique' room. It was spacious and cleaning was good. Nice single beds, firm mattresses but not too hard. Not sure if all rooms have single beds (ours did), we would have preferred a double bed. The air-conditioning in the room worked well, also on days of 34 degrees Celsius. Aircon was good in the entire hotel. The room interior is not the very newest, maybe a tad dated, but everything worked well. Not a huge amount of closet space, but okay. We parked our empty suitcases in the (spacious) bathroom. There is a TV, water kettle, Nespresso machine, good shower. Tea was added every day. The Unique rooms have a great view on the beach and the ocean. There is a club at the beach that has music until midnight that you can hear quite well. Not a significant issue for us. After midnight it was all quiet. There is quite a bit of traffic around the beach, but since our hotel room was on the 8th floor, we didn't hear it. The hotel is very close to the beach. You can take the steps down outside via the pools, or take the elevator to street level. You exit the gate and only have to cross the street to get to the boulevard, the many beach cafés and shops, and the nice sandy beach itself. To get back into the hotel (pool) area, do not use the tourniquet but use the door to the left of it. The hotel has several pools which are also supervised for emergencies. We are not huge swimmers but the pools looked clean and modern. There is a pool bar (with small snacks too) near the largest pool (lowest level of the hotel) and a bar near the pool close to the restaurant on the higher level. The trees and plants around the hotel are well maintained and lovely to see. There also is a (supervised) pool at the other side of the hotel, where you also find the gym. This is a bit too much said really. The equipment is very outdated and rusty. This 'gym' certainly needs to be renovated before becoming attractive. It doesn't seem to have (sufficient) aircon, so working out there must be really hot. One can swap beach towels for fresh ones every day. The desk for that is next to the main (lower) pool. It is only open in the morning. Unique guests have 'special' (orange) towels that can also be swapped at the reception desk, or by the main pool. A practical issue was the supply of bottled water. You can ask for extra bottles at the entrance of the buffet restaurant, or when you meet room service. But during a hot summer, the standard re-supply of one bottle (only half a liter) per person just isn't enough. In the end, we got tired of having to ask for extra bottles all the time, so we just bought them at one of the many beach shops. Water was also an issue in the buffet restaurant. Strangely enough, all-inclusive guests could pour their own wine, beer, and soft drinks from the taps, but there was no offering of water. You had to wait for a staff member to come to your table, order water, and hope for it to arrive in time. Why not just have TAPS for water at the buffet?? The entertainment was sometimes in the afternoon (lounge DJ) and always after dinner (20h/20h30 until about 22h or 22h30). We heard two really good DJ's in the afternoons. Great musical choices and very professional mixing. The evening program is provided via an artist agency, producing rather various performances. We found the quality very fluctuating. Great bands and artists on some days; uninspired acts the next. Tastes differ, of course. We especially liked the Guitar Legends rock band and the duo with the electrical violin and guitar. The latter played amongst the crowd by the bar which made it extra entertaining. The Corallium rock band had a great sax player but the other musicians and the singer were disappointing; the crowd never got into it. The was also a (modern) classical string quartet, a female solo singer, a Spanish dance group, a singer with two ballet dancers, a DJ (who seemed like a beginner ... not fluid). So quite diverse. There is a main stage which is quite high above the restaurant/pool terrace, creating too much of a distance from most of the audience. You could go to a higher level to be as elevated as the artists, but those spots were mostly either reserved or occupied early. It is advisable to take a spot near the outside bar quite early, if you want to have a good view of the main podium for the evening entertainment. When you have dinner at the buffet, you can also eat outside and from there take in the entertainment quite well. Light effects were hardly used. Sound system quality was certainly good. There was almost no entertainment during the day. There was a 'massage demo' near the main pool that hardly promoted itself and almost drew no interest. Some workshops were offered, which we did not check out. We found the other guests in the hotel quite correct and well-behaved. In general the crowd is a bit older, with young couples and families (children 18+ ish) mixed in. The majority seemed Spanish, British, German and Dutch. Several people were claiming sun beds by the pools with their towels (Dutch: 'handdoekje leggen') before going to breakfast. A bit childish. But there were enough sunbeds to accommodate everyone anyway. The hotel also sells day passes for e.g. the pool and the buffets. This attracts a younger crowd, but they were also quite well behaved. From what we gathered, the hotel is certainly friendly to gay guests. We booked a shuttle from the airport (20 min. drive) to the hotel. Apparently, several shuttle providers find the street towards the hotel quite narrow. Even though we only had a mini bus, the driver refused to drop us at the hotel entrance. We did not have to walk far (5 minutes max.) but did need our navigation app. Of course, this is no fault of the hotel itself! But please be aware that the street to the main entrance is refused by certain shuttle operators. We booked a nice excursion to the north coast of the island. Several tour promotors roam in the hotel to tell you about their offers. To us, this was quite practical and we received perfect advice on what to book. The van that took us, was able to pick us up at the hotel's main entrance. Other interesting excursions are the zoo and the Aquarium. Plus there are all sorts of activities and tours on the water of course. All in all we had a good stay. We would recommend this hotel. Including a return flight from The Netherlands, we paid about Eur 2.500 per person for 12 nights. The high season was about starting, so this drove up the price. Given the decent buffet (good, not great), the sub-par wine options, and the varying quality of entertainment, balanced against the certainly nice benefits of the Unique package, everyone will have their personal conclusion, if this is a fair price. We certainly had a good time. Since there is always room for improvement, we would say that with a few simple steps, the overall experience of this hotel could go up from an already good 4-out-of-5 to 4-plus. Should you add the Unique option? This depends of course. The quiet breakfast was nice (the food itself wasn't much different) and we used the Unique sun areas a lot. A soft mattress really works well on a sun bed. We also liked going into the lounge in the afternoons and have some snacks there. It's really a trade-off between some extra space / quietness, and the extra cost. We found it worth it, but other guests may find the benefits less valuable."
Would not return
"Just got back from this hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and kept up together . But the ground floor pool was extremely cloudy the whole week so did not use. The views where beautiful. Daniel at reception very helpful . The food on the other hand was not good . Same sorta food every day and extermly salty . We landed up going out to eat most of the week after looking at the food first before eating . When cooking they put salt on everything. Rooms kept uptogether. Bars very very slow service and only one person serving . Entertainment was good when they had something on but most nights is a dj which bored us landed up going out to the yumbo centre to watch the drag shows . Would not return to the hotel which is a same as in a beautiful spot"
