"What a fabulous hotel. The Bull Escorial and Spa is never a 3 star hotel. Its definitely a very good 4 star. We booked this based on the reviews and the spa services and yes I was a bit sceptical with some reviews but I think those that have complained about something would complain that the pool is too wet and the sun is too yellow!! We arrived late due to a delay on departure in the UK and were greeted with a friendly and quick check in. The girl then said that dinner was almost finished but leave our bags with her and go get something to eat. When we finished and went to the room which was 711 and we were very pleasantly surprised at the how big the room was and the balcony was superb with a comfortable 2 seater bench and 2 single seats and table. All had cushions on them. We overlooked the pool and entertainment area.
There are plenty of loungers at the hotel and there was never any lounger Olympics in the mornings which was really good to see. We normally went to the pool around 9am and there was always plenty to choose from. One good thing I liked was there are no reservations allowed and the staff would put notes on the loungers with towels allowing a small amount of time for the people to return and if not then the towels were removed, and we saw this happen multiple times. Another thing I liked is being non smokers, there is only a very small smoking section with around 12 loungers and a few tables and chairs and the rest of the hotel is non smoking. The pool bar is open from 10:30-16.00 and after that, drinks are available from inside. Soft drinks and water are self service which is good. There is ice cream available on a help yourself basis at the bar. A snack bar is also available for burgers, pizza, hot dogs and French fries and its good. Food can be eaten on your lounger which some hotels don't allow but there was never any rubbish around this area. The hotel is generally kept very clean.
The food although a little more limited in choices than we normally see at other hotels was not an issue as there is always something to find. Chicken is there almost every meal with My wife was delighted on a couple of occasions as lamb chops were on the menu and its not something she has often as I don't eat it. Also a chocolate fountain a couple of evenings! Always lots of fruit available as well. There is not a huge deserts selection but often cheese and biscuits are available and always 4 or 5 ice cream choices.
All the staff we came across were pleasant and spoke to you. On some reviews people say the staff are rude but in my view that's normally the reaction of a rude guest. We never seen or encountered rude staff.
Directly outside the hotel is a bus stop where you can get the free bus to Mogan Mall, or take the number 32 bus on Friday to the market in Puerto de Mogan and the bus terminal is directly at the market. Its €4.15 per adult and takes about 45-50 minutes. Any trips we booked seem to always have a pick up point at the Parque Tropical Hotel which is a 2 minute easy walk away. There are quite a few shops and bars and lots of restaurants in the area and we would always take a walk after dinner around the streets and often along the beachfront where there is a designated walkway.
In the basement there is a games area which has pool tables, ten pin bowling, table tennis and some video games. We never used these though. There is a darts area and pool table next to the outside pool. On the 3rd floor there is also mini golf area.
The best part for us was the Spa and Health Suite and one of the main reasons to book. I was in contact with the hotel about this before we booked and they responded quickly each time. We used this a lot. My wife likes reflexology and facials, and I like sport massages and neck and head massages. The staff there were really pleasant and the massages were some of the best I have had. My wife also said the treatments she had were just wonderful. In the spa we also used the pool and flotation pool. The pool has multiple water jets and water falls. I also used the sauna and steam room almost every day. Warning though, this area is a mixed naked area only and although we are from the UK, we currently live in Finland, so naked saunas is normal for me and it didn't phase me at all. On the roof there is a solarium with loungers and also a nudist sunbathing area which is screened off for privacy but it does face the hotel opposite so it is possible for guests on the top floor there to see into this area.
Overall we had an amazing holiday and we will definitely return."
