Relaxing holiday
"Just got back from R2 Romantica had a lovely, relaxing holiday. We were a party of 7 (although all booked separately) and had great fun. The hotel is immaculately clean, our hotel room was fantastic and the food was amazing. We had booked the Romantica Suites and knew that the main restaurant was in the main hotel - literally across the road (650 steps) - the walk was a nice way to start the day and I've stayed in hotels where I've had a longer walk from my room to the hotel. The area is a bit remote but if you're looking for a week just relaxing and chilling this is the place. The only negative for us was the cats around the hotel - outside was fine but they were inside the main reception/bar over the furniture too but this was only a problem because we discovered that 1 of our party was allergic to cats."
Relaxing time
"Having just returned from a week at the Fantasia suites booked through EasyJet holidays I thought I’d do a quick review. We had done research by reading other’s reviews so we knew this would suit our requirement for a quiet relaxing break with some sunshine. It is definitely not the place to go for bars, clubbing or drinking etc. The hotel and its annexed Fantasia suites are separated by a block of undeveloped land about the size of a football pitch. Yes we had to walk across this via the footpath and either through or round the main Bahia Playa building to access the restaurant. It is approximately 400m, took only a few minutes and was mostly flat and level. The food was standard all inclusive buffet type meals. There were some meals we thought were excellent and other times we were less impressed with what we chose but we never left completely disappointed. I think there was less choice of everything than at others we’ve been to but by that I mean 2 types of breakfast roll not 4. There was also different bread etc so it was not like anything was exactly missing just more carefully catered. There was pizza and very good chips every day if that’s your thing and lots of fresh fish and shellfish for the more adventurous. Room We had a double room that had a king size bed and not 2 singles pushed together. It had a shower over the small bath and separate toilet. The bathroom was separated from the room by a glass wall which although was fine for us may not suit others wanting a bit of privacy to shower. There was hanging space in wardrobe but nowhere else to put anything so you are living out of your case on the floor for the week. There was also a mini safe in the wardrobe but you have to pay extra to get a code to use it. I think it should be included but if they are going to charge extra they should at least put a note to say that, rather than leaving instructions on how to set it which don’t work until you go to reception and get a code. We had a patio area which got sun all day and was great. Pity it only had one lounger - it wasn’t just us there were others like it - it just makes the hotel look cheapskate. The room was clean and the housekeeping was good. Pool towels were provided in the room on arrival which was great (no deposits or wondering where to go to get them) but there wasn’t any obvious way to change them. There was a mini fridge and a large glass bottle of water on arrival. There was a machine at the bar where you could get chilled water and so I recommend you take a water bottle you can fill up. The staff weren’t exactly friendly - I don’t remember any of them initiating conversation with us - but they weren’t unfriendly and they ie cleared tables or served drinks etc very professionally. There were a lot of different nationalities at the hotel, with lots of French and German but not many English speakers. I don’t think they got any different service than us. The AI drinks menu was limited to the local version of each drink and then charging for anything branded. There were I think 6 included cocktails but my Tequila sunrise had no colour variation and was just bright orange so not sure what was in it but not grenadine for sure. Overall. We were looking for a cheap getaway for some relaxing sunshine which we got. We didn’t want to drink or party. We swam in nice pools (1 in the suites area and 2 at the main hotel) and read etc. There is a pool table, table tennis table, books and board games to borrow, sauna, spa and (cold) hot tubs, gym and daily activities in the main hotel which you can access if required but it is generally suited to probably older adult couples looking to chill. I would certainly book another EasyJet holiday as that all worked very well, and I would recommend this hotel as long as you are clear on what you are expecting and want."
Don't bother unless your boring
"This hotel is for retired people, the food is the quality of a hospital or retirement home, no taste, same every day, and only buffet food is available. Ill say it again, the food is terrible and the same every day. The service in both the main hotel and aparent "romantic suites" is diabolical. Room: It states mini bar... it is a empty fridge, with a bottle on arrival, you cant get it again, unless you go the shop and buy your own. Cracks on walls, romantic suites balcony view... ground floor is a wall to look at. Outdated rooms. Food: 8 - 10am then 1- 3pm then 7- 10pm. Outside of these times of the no flavoured, same every say food, you can't get any food unless you go shop. Drinks.... all inclusive is a small range of the menu, all the drinks you actually want you have to pay €6 for every time. Snacks at the bar... its burger (mash potatoes consistency), tuna salad, ham sandwich or calamari (might not be calamari though, couldn't tell), oh and fries (the best thing on the menu in hotel!) Staff: 90% arr snotty and dont want to work, we ordered food at snack bar, waited 45 mins to find it was sat there in the kitchen cold, then waited again while they threw the same food back in the fryer (flys had been all over it) Maids: rooms clean no complaints Nightclub: it aint a nightclub, its a place where people go.after tea... as there is abosolutley nothing to do all day and night. The nightclub consisted of people clenching on for dear life for something to do or happen as they were going out their mind bord. We didnt see anyone laughing or joking at all at the hotel, as everyone was so bord and miserable. After being here for the last 6 days, I feel that checking into my nearest old folks home when I get home may actually bring some life to me and my wife. We have joked (the only joking that has been had) with other guests here, and they too have all agreed they may do the same. Beach is black with a waste pipe outside the hotel... yum yum! Food - bring your own Drink- bring your own Entertainment- make your own, there ain't any here Staff - look as fed up as the guests Clean - yea, but oh my god... watch out for the ARMY of coch roaches Room - clean, not mini bar, no view on ground floor romantic suites. Generally my thoughts on this place are very jovial, I say this as if I think otherwise, I may be locked up, STAY CLEAR OF HERE UNLESS YOU ARE ABOVE 60. But then if you are above 60, there is a long walk from the romantic suites part to the main hotel, so if you get hungry and want something more than the 4 thing menu in the snack bar... get your steps in. Cant wait to get home, what a waste of time and money. Will be booking an other holiday when home to get over this joke of a place. Rooms: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 1/5"
