Impressive Playa Granada Golf

"On first impressions the hotel looks a little out dated. I appreciate it is a four star but I was surprised when there was no Porter so at 11 o'clock at night we were walking around trying to find a room whilst dragging three suitcases and two Golf Clubs around with us. They did very kindly upgrade us which was very nice, but my original room had a sea or golf view and I was given a room overlooking the car park that was very noisy and right next to the walkway at the side of the hotel but I was grateful of the upgrade and on closer inspection the 2 bed rooms apartments don’t seem to have a better view The breakfast is absolute carnage, so many people and not enough area to move around so everybody's just climbing on top of each other. The choice was very basic but there was something for all tastes . The lunch redeemed things as less people go to the lunch, lovely salads and cooked meat and fish. However both meals times are due to finish at 2.15pm and 9.15pm which is completely ignored by the European’s and they all come in 10 minutes after they are supposed to be closed and again it’s chaos ? The à la cartes are good , again I’ve been to better but it was in a five star so have to be aware of that before being too critical. The food was really good in the 3 à la cartes we went to . Italian , Spanish and Mediterranean . The service wasn’t great and the staff just weren’t very attentive but a lot of people going to the à la cartes . It was mentioned about nationality, and we felt like we were the only English people in the whole hotel, everybody is European, a lot Spanish and French but it is August school holidays, English definitely the minority maybe 10% if I’m being generous . My son and husband played golf, we could see golfers at the 9th Tee and it looked like there was a lot on the course and a lot being backed up with nobody moving along, which was another complaint I read on TripAdvisor. It is busier in the morning with all locals and this was evident but they booked for 2 o’clock tee off and no issues. They have played several days at 2pm and enjoyed but so hot! The pool is in my opinion far too small for the size of the hotel, we were told at one point there was 1100 guests in this hotel and at times it felt overcrowded in the pool. We just avoided it which is unlike us . Positives, there is plenty of sunbeds that's on the grass with plenty of room even after 10am, beautiful scenery, very relaxing, overlooking the sea. A lot quieter but if you like the pool as I said it was over crowded at times and as warm as a bath . The sky bar you can have a drink in, but if you want a cocktail, you have to be on the ultra all-inclusive, or pay extra, which in my opinion was absolutely not worth it but it was really annoying that there was certain brands you just couldn’t have. I like an Aperol spritz but couldn’t have one, unless it was a Spanish version which wasn’t as nice. I would’ve expected to have been able to have whatever I wanted on an all inclusive but I did know that before I arrived so I wasn’t under any misconception about what was included and what wasn’t. However the rules did seem abit random at times, you couldn’t have a glass of rose included in the à la carte but could have white wine . I know some English people said that they enjoyed being the minority, but you actually feel quite isolated because there isn’t any of that general chitchat around the pool you are very much on your own. Also, I have an only child so when we go on holiday, you do hope that they will meet somebody that they can do things with and on this occasion it didn’t happen so it just means a bit of a more boring holiday for my son. We had booked 11 nights so if he hadn’t have had the golf I think he would have been abit fed up. Outside the hotel, a lovely walk or run along a wooden promenade which goes about 3k from the hotel so that was nice . A sports centre next door where you can hire paddle boards etc so that was good . Tennis in the hotel was good we played a few mornings , you just put a deposit down. Entertainment everyone was geared up to the French and Spanish it was almost like they didn’t expect any English to be there. We didn’t get involved which we normally would do . The evening entertainment in a big theatre at the back and some professional shows which are very good . Also easyJet in their brochure advertises a 50 minute transfer, there is no way that this hotel has a 50 minute transfer we arrived late at night and there was no traffic on the road and it took us about an hour and 10 minutes so it is not 50 minutes. Positives Plenty of beds at the beach Room is really nice Beautiful shoreline to walk along Although I didn’t involve myself in the entertainment, it is there if you want it and everybody else seems to love it from Spain and France ! The food is really good, there is a lot of pork and fish on repeat but plenty of choice and a good quality Negatives This is a Spanish resort for Spanish people The pool, too small and absolute carnage at times The buffet, everybody comes in when it’s due to close and it’s absolute bedlam Everybody’s got different colour bands which means different things, just have one price for everybody and make everything included There isn’t enough people clearing the tables, at times you’re waiting and trying to get a table cleared The adult pool is mainly undercover unless you want to spend the day in the shade, it’s also very small and it is very limited room Coffee, you can have 1 in the morning in the buffet but not after your lunch or dinner unless you go to the pool bar The beach bar is small, no cocktails but everyone goes there as they can go in their swimwear and it closes at 7pm when still loads of people on beach in August Pool bar is exactly that however you have to be covered up so everyone goes to the beach bar No showers at beach Would I come again , yes probably as I know what to expect this time and it is good value for money , it would be interesting to see the mix of nationality outside of the August holidays"

"I would like to formally complain about the behavior of the lifeguards at the pool/beach. We were extremely shocked and disappointed by their attitude. They were arrogant, rude, and showed complete disregard for the hotel’s reputation. They even seemed to encourage guests to file complaints. What upset us the most was witnessing a family with two children leave the area. The moment the family turned their backs, the lifeguards immediately removed their towels and laughed about it among themselves, as if it were a joke or a personal victory. It was embarrassing to watch and completely unprofessional. This kind of behavior does not reflect the standard we expect from your hotel and it left a very negative impression on us and on other guests who saw it. I hope you take this matter seriously and address it, because staff like this damage the reputation and guest experience you work so hard to build."

"Lovely hotel, clean pools, food is hot and varied. Desserts are lovely, actually taste the cream and sugar. The food has lots of grilled meats and fish, lots for the children. Lovely breakfast choices. The hotel is in front of a stony beach. The grounds of the hotel are lovely. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Predominantly Spanish when we were there, which is possibly why the atmosphere was so lovely. I would not hesitate to return. No negatives. Pool bar open for drinks and snacks. We booked the restaurants for a main served at the table. Wine was delicious. Thank you impressive!"
