"Was a little bit worried after reading some of the previous reviews, but we had a great 5 night stay. (1 adult, 2 young adults 18-21) Agreed with some points previously raised by others, but certainly nowhere near as bad as others said it was. It didn’t matter to us, but British guests at the time of our stay were in the minority. We were made to feel very welcome.
The doors slamming at all hours of the day and night is a major issue here as others reviewed previously. I didn’t think it would be as bad as the reviews said, but it was! Long empty corridors means the noise just echoes. 11pm - 7am is supposed to be quiet hours but that certainly wasn’t the case with the doors, and occasionally groups of people stood talking loudly in corridors. Why people can’t just respectfully shut a door quietly behind them when they first realise they slam because they’re heavy is beyond me! We often heard water running too at all hours as the room walls seem quite thin. The bed however was amazingly comfortable! One of the nicest hotel beds I’ve had. Lovely, comfortable mattress, pillows and bedding. Just a shame you were woken so frequently!
Rooms were clean and modern and we saw the cleaners everyday. There is no wardrobe, just two small rails with hangers but this was fine for our needs. All hotel areas had a modern feel and were clean and well presented.
Restaurant felt a little small compared to the number of guests, and got very busy at times. We had no issues with the service and staff were all polite and took our orders quickly. Food was good and fairly varied, and our only criticism is that it wasn’t served particularly hot. I like my food to be piping hot and even when it was freshly placed out we often found it to be at a cooler temperature. We found breakfast starting at 8am to be a bit late for us as others have said. This was also too late if you had a morning flight as we did, which meant we couldn’t have breakfast before leaving and we to find food at Reus airport which had very limited food options. (We were collected from the hotel at 7.40am)
All inclusive guests had a wristband which also unlocked your room. This system seemed to work well and was scanned every time you entered the restaurant or ordered from the bar.
We booked to use the spa but cancelled this as we changed plans for the day. The spa carried an additional charge of €15 per person and you need to buy and wear a swimming cap to use the indoor pool. The wellness centre was lovely though when we had a look around. The outdoor pool area is nice but quite small and surrounded by tall buildings and trees on all sides. We went in October so it was always going to be cooler, but it was quite shady even on a warmer and fully sunny day, and the pool was freezing! Not sure how much sun it would get in the summer months.
Location wise, it is in more of a residential area. Not really in an area with bars if that’s what you want in an evening. There are a few places locally but they all seem to be the other side of the town. The 24hr kebab shop on the corner just down the road was great for a meal if arriving late (we arrived after the hotel restaurant shut at 9.45pm), and there is a little supermarket directly over from the hotel.
Just for info:
Taxi to Porta Aventura for 3 people from the hotel ranged from €10 - €15 depending on the time of day/night and size of taxi.
Bus to Port Aventura: these run frequently from the bus stop down the road until late at night. €2 each or you can buy a pre-loaded pass from the bus company Plana for €10.
If you got to Port Aventura buy the Express passes! Queues and queue jumping are horrendous! You won’t regret the extra cost!
Taxi transfer from the airport about 15/20mins.
All in all a great stay though and would come here again!"
