"H10 Mediterranean Village - holiday from hell
Honestly not what we expected from a H10.
Arrived to be told we were on the 6th floor- assumed this would be fine but no, had to go out of the reception, walk up past the pool, into one lift to level 4, then come out walk to the other end of that hall and get the lift to level 6. No direct lift to the 6th floor. With two small disabled children this was an absolute nightmare. Expressed this to reception to be told tough there was no other rooms.
Arrived to room, floors were absolutely disgusting, hadn’t been cleaned, beds also dirty didn’t seem to be fresh bedding. Pillow looked to have mould on it. Room was like a sauna, aircon didn’t seem to be working. No cold air blowing out of any vents.
Back to reception to ask for house keeping to clean and maintenance to check aircon.
Maintenance arrived promptly to say no aircon was working, it working because it was making a noise yet absolutely nothing coming out the vents, and the room was absolutely roasting. Spoke to reception again who told me to keep blinds and curtains closed they couldn’t do anything. We went and bought fans in Salou which helped a bit but nothing major. House keeping came in and brushed the kitchen/living room area and nowhere else.
By day 4 I had to go back to reception and complain again as our room hadn’t been cleaned once since we arrived and beds never made. Advised that in a 2 bed apartment (aimed at family’s with children) the room is only cleaned once a week, yet a standard room with one bed is cleaned and beds made daily.
Also to note on day 5 the lift from level 4 stopped, not at all ideal with 2 young kids.
Lift doors close very fast and do not stop when you try to stop them closing
Bathroom - shower is in the bath but there is no supportive rails to get in or out from standing position, easily can fall. Also very grubby.
Breakfast- , very very poor selection, and the little selection they did have was Luke warm at best. I honestly think it would fall under home food regulations for temperature.
Sunbed wars - a nightmare. Kids pool is an absolute nightmare, not enough loungers and not enough umbrellas to allow everyone to have some sort of shade. People leaving towels in front beds from 10am and could be left empty for hours, I’ve read reviews that have said the same and hotel reply’s that towels are lifted - they are not. One day towels were placed on loungers below an umbrella right beside the shallow end for 3 hours and not one person was near them, they arrived back about 1pm to use the pool.
Kids pool - filthy. Inside the pool you could feel grit on your feet, day 3 there was loads of stuff floating in the pool like toilet paper. Area around the pool was vile every day. Life guards are very good, prompt and very good with the kids. Not allowed any floats or even a ball to throw which was disappointing that you couldn’t even have a small ball. There is no entertainment at kids pool only down at the stage. No games nothing. Disappointed for a hotel that claims to be brilliant for families.
Day 6 at the pool child had burnt his toes on the roasting hot metal grate in middle of sun lounger area and sliced his foot on the crap around the pool.
Toilets at kids pool area are not maintained throughout the day. By 1pm no toilet roll or soap left.
Splash park area is good for smaller children but it’s not a pool just a splash park, after about 45 minutes kids wanted back to the pool. Could do with a bit of refurbishment, it’s very grubby.
Heard a few bad reviews when we arrived about the food in the snack bars so avoided getting meat but cheese pizza and chips were fine, nothing mind blowing but done the job for hungry kids at lunch time.
Dinner time - disaster, no drinks available in the dinner restaurant so you have nothing to drink with dinner not even water available despite being able to get water, tea and coffee at breakfast. Food is mediocre at best and selection for a hotel this size is very poor.
Night time entertainment goes on to 11pm and you have no issue hearing it from about half a mile away it’s so loud! So any kids trying to go to bed early forget it.
There is a supermarket on site, probably one of the only good things as there is very little near the hotel or much in cap Salou in general. We did hire a car but there seems to be a bus stop outside the hotel beside to get in and out to salou itself. Unsure of times or prices.
Car parking is a nightmare, we were handed a key with no instructions on where to park or how to gain entrance to underground parking
Over all the hotel was dirty apart from reception area and bar area. Halls never seemed to be brushed, every day there was more hair and dust. Bedrooms were not clean and were not cleaned despite multiple complaints through the week, halls were not clean, kids pool area is absolutely filthy. Hotel needs a lot of renovations to match with the reception. don’t think it’s worth the money or the 4 star rating it has.
So disappointing as we have stayed at a few other H10s and they have been amazing! Wouldn’t recommend this one to anyone."
