Nice centrally located hotel in Porto
"We stayed here for 3 nights with the Collette tour which booked this hotel. Its very nice. Centrally located. The rooms were quiet, the beds firm but comfortable. We lucked out and had a room that faced the inner courtyard. Very calm environment. From the hotel we took several long walks. Note, it's at or near the top of the hill that it's on so leaving is downhill and coming back uphill so allot your energy and time accordingly. We walked as much as 6 to 8 miles daily. Across the street is a nice open square and a church, "Igreja da Santíssima Trindade" and benches. So if you are a sketch artist, bring a pad and sit and draw. It's not far from the train station, so if you are traveling light you could walk it. Otherwise Uber or Bolt BTW if you find yourself at the bottom of the hill, and it's too much to walk back up, Bolt (their Uber) and ride back up. Just download the app before you go, and make sure you have an esim with a good data plan. We used Airlo and Vodafone. (Again set them up before you leave your home cell service, or wait until you arrive a place with wifi that works. (the Porto Airport wifi did not work for me) Breakfast was a standard tourist buffet with a lot of choices, all good. There is a nice restaurant adjacent to the hotel where we ate diner twice. (More details in another specific review) As usual when traveling in Europe, bring a wash cloth if you need one. They are not provided"
Fabulous
"Great location, 15 mins stroll to the river front but still with lots of bars and restaurants within 10 minutes. Particularly enjoyed the outside seating area at the back of the bar, it was secluded, the seats were comfy and it was a safe place to chill out with book/phone late afternoon (and drop off!). The bar staff were excellent, knew our order and checked if we wanted more at the right intervals. We made the most of the "happy time". Room was a good size (we had a superior double) and overlooked the square, towels and sheets changed regularly, cleaning staff always smiled and said "ola". Bed was comfy, fridge cold, toiletries good. Breakfast was excellent, even the coffee was decent, choice of everything we could want and more, plus a lot of cake (which I particularly love). Reception staff, great on our arrival and make check in process smooth, sad they had no maps though."
Disappointing staff Hotel Porto Turim
"The Turim Hotel Porto's location is great. It is clean, lovely and modern. However we must have arrived on a day when we found the staff most unhelpful, non smiling and appeared to be very unhappy. It was a weekend. We had come from the Turim Hotel in Lisbon which had fantastic staff. The Turim Hotel Porto has been such a disappointment in several ways. We asked for a bucket of ice and 2 wine glasses at reception to be sent to our room and was told they couldn't help or organise it. Another staff member from the restaurant said they couldn't loan them to us but would ask his boss but never came back. Reception is the worst we have come across and we have travelled the world. We would never return and it makes us very wary of booking with this Turim Porto Hotel or any other Turim Hotels."
