"We don’t stay in all-inclusive hotels very often, so when we do it’s usually because we want a proper week of switching off and relaxing. The weather was kind and the temperature perfect for the whole week, which was a great start.
Unfortunately, the hotel itself didn’t quite deliver the five-star experience we were hoping for.
Firstly, you’re given one glass bottle of water for the room for the entire stay, in our case for the two of us. The hotel promotes a “save waste” policy, which is fair enough, but there is only one refill station on floor 5 (we were on floor 10). If you drink a lot of water, or simply want some during the night, it’s not exactly convenient. When we politely asked for another bottle, the reaction made it feel as though we’d requested to be upgraded to a gold-plated penthouse rather than simply asking for another bottle of water. If the hotel is serious about its sustainability policy, having a refill station on every floor, as many hotels now do - would make far more sense and be much more convenient for guests.
The beds were rock hard. We asked for mattress toppers and received two, but even then they were still extremely firm. The reception desk didn’t seem surprised when we raised it, which suggests this might not be the first time the issue has been mentioned.
Another oddity was check-in. We had to email our booking confirmation to reception, something we’ve never encountered at any other hotel.
Parts of the hotel feel quite dated, and many of the pool loungers looked like they’d seen better days.
The rooms also weren’t particularly soundproof. Despite being quite far from the lift (room 1011), we could clearly hear it operating, which as you can imagine was fairly constant. We could also hear the evening entertainment and even our neighbour snoring through the wall, which didn’t make for the most peaceful nights.
Then there was the food… where to begin. Processed and low quality. In other all-inclusive hotels we’ve stayed in, tea and coffee are usually served at the table while you help yourself to food. Here it felt more like a canteen setup. Much of the food was oily and repetitive, and could only really be described as a school dinner on a bad day. The bread was stale on several occasions, vegetables appeared to be swimming in oil, and the mushrooms were clearly tinned. At one point I even picked up a piece of raw pork, which wasn’t particularly reassuring.
Another odd detail was that salt and pepper weren’t on the tables, and even simple things like spoons had to be collected yourself from elsewhere. It felt unnecessarily inconvenient when these are normally just standard table items.
After a couple of days we ended up eating out most evenings. The “speciality restaurants” unfortunately didn’t feel very special either and lacked any real atmosphere.
That said, there were positives.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, both in the rooms and throughout the property, which we were genuinely impressed by. The staff were friendly, and the location is excellent, easy access to the beach, a bus stop with regular services right outside, and plenty of amenities nearby. I’d also highly recommend walking to the next town along the coast; it’s mostly flat and makes for a lovely morning walk.
When we raised the issue about the beds we did feel listened to, and Karina in particular was very polite and helpful when speaking with us.
Overall, while the location and cleanliness were great, the overall experience didn’t match the five-star expectations. Unfortunately we can’t rate it any higher than 3 stars."
