"We booked a 4-night holiday for myself and my partner. This was our first holiday together in five years since having our daughter, so we were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it turned into a complete disaster.
A couple of days before we arrived, I emailed the hotel to let them know we would be arriving early. They replied to say this was absolutely fine and that they could provide us with towels so we could use the pool while waiting for our room.
When we arrived, the woman at reception was incredibly rude from the moment we walked in. There was no friendly greeting or welcome. I explained that we knew we were early, but had contacted the hotel beforehand. She simply replied, “Yes, you are early,” and asked for our passports. She then placed our suitcases in what she called a storage room, but it was really just a messy room off the hallway that wasn’t even locked, which didn’t feel secure at all.
When I asked about the towels we had been promised by email, this also seemed to be a problem. After a few minutes, she reluctantly handed them over but gave us no information about where we could get changed. We had to wander around the hotel ourselves until we eventually found the toilets to change in.
The biggest disappointment was the swimming pool. It was filthy and clearly not being maintained properly. There were broken tiles all over the steps, sides, and bottom of the pool, making it a serious safety hazard. To make matters worse, there was a man supposedly cleaning the pool. He was scrubbing thick green moss from around the edges using a bucket and brush, but instead of removing it, he was brushing it straight back into the water. It was absolutely disgusting and made us feel sick.
We left the pool area and returned about an hour later, only to find the green moss and dirt floating throughout the pool. I started taking photos because I was so shocked. The receptionist clearly noticed how unhappy we were and sent a man out with a net to remove the floating dirt and moss, but by then the damage was done. We had completely lost confidence in the cleanliness of the pool.
The hotel also advertised a poolside bar, but there wasn’t one. Instead, there was just a large brown cabinet sitting outside, which was very misleading.
In the end, we decided we couldn’t stay there. We checked out and spent a considerable amount of money booking another hotel at very short notice. Although we managed to enjoy the rest of our holiday elsewhere, it left us significantly out of pocket and put a huge dampener on what should have been a special trip.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Between the poor customer service, unsafe and unhygienic pool, misleading facilities, and the extra expense of having to find alternative accommodation, I would not recommend staying here."
