"I stayed here for 4 nights and the rooms are quite basic but the beds are comfortable and clean and the shower is great quality and the breakfast area is simple but works well and overall it is good quality and value for money. The restaurant area union house was a former music venue and the staff and food here are very good also, I’d recommend this hotel and stay here again"

"Unfortunately we had a very bad experience at the Conscious Hotel in Utrecht. With our 2 children - ages 16 and 11 - we booked - for a few nights their expensive suite - room suitable for 4 people. Upon arrival we noticed that the windows couldn't open - historical building. Our eldest daughter gets severe anxiety because of claustrophobia and we asked if we could change rooms. The receptionist was friendly and offered us 2 other - standard - rooms for the following 2 nights. She said there would be no extra charge, but had to check with management. We said we were OK to pay any difference - didn't expect there to be any/much as we paid a lot for their most expensive suite and the other 2 rooms were basic rooms - but wanted to know in advance. We went to the reception - lovely but young and quite unexperienced team, multiple times, they said management would let us know, but nobody called. Upon check out we were charged over 500 EUR extra!!!!!!! for the 2 nights. Extra - as the suite was paid for. We asked to speak to the management, but nobody was available. We have tried to call and email multiple times. We got 1 reply with apologies and that they were looking in the situation and give us an answer, but they never replied back despite multiple follow ups from our side. Telling us in advance there would be no extra charge, and then charge us so much extra without advance notice and no possibility to speak to someone really is unfair and extremely unprofessional. We would absolutely not recommend this hotel."

"Lovely hotel, very central location, near many charming restaurants. Room is small but has everything you need and is clean and modern. Staff have been very pleasant & courteous. There is wine o clock between 5&6pm which is a lovely touch."
