Hotel Vallum by St Pietro

"My wife and I have just recently returned from a week's stay at the Vallum, we were there to celebrate 44 years married. We both could not believe how lucky we were in choosing this hotel for our first trip to Croatia, it's only a very short coach trip from Dubrovnik Airport to the hotel which in our eyes is a big bonus. Although close to the airport, there's not a lot of aircraft noise. First impressions of the hotel were very positive, it's only been open just over a year and the place is immaculate and very modern looking. The reception area has a huge window that looks out over one of Cavtat's bays and the smell of place is fabulous ( they use R ituals products throughout ). Unfortunately we did not get the receptionists name but she was a lovely girl and checked us in quickly and explained about the hotel's facilities and breakfast times etc. She then showed us to our suite and again explained about A/C control, TV and believe it or not, underfloor heating for the tiled floor ! As I mentioned it was our 44th wedding anniversary and they had placed a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table for my wife, which she loved. The suite was spotless, great shower in the bathroom ( again with Rituals body wash, shampoo and conditioner ), there was a Nespresso coffee maker with a variety of pod flavours and microwave, toaster,etc. The bed was one of the best we've slept in with a choice of pillows. The pool area was great with the infinity pool looking out over the bay and very comfortable loungers and a few tables and chairs to drink and eat. The receptionist explained to us that the hotel has access to a private island which takes about 10 mins to get to by courtesy boat. We went to the island a couple of times and it's fabulous, there's a bar and restaurant on it and cabanas that you can hire, if you don't want to use the cabanas there's sun loungers ( the same as the hotel's ) that are free to use and they also provide towels. The sea was warm and crystal clear for swimming. The main part of Cavtat is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel along a flat coastal path / road and the town itself is lovely with a good selection of bars and restaurants. There's a shingle beach and a few bars and restaurants right next to the hotel if you can't be bothered with the walk into town. Lastly and most importantly is the staff of the hotel every one of them are,so friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for them and they're a real credit to the hotel. The Vallum is without a doubt a little spot of heaven on earth, thank you so much to all of you for making our stay so perfect."
