"This has to be the most unusual hotel I have ever stayed in so apologies in advance for writing this long review.
I can only presume the building used to be self catering apartments which have been “converted” into a hotel as there’s no dining room, bar, gym or most of the usual facilities expected. The front reception is actually inside what was originally an apartment on the ground floor and having negotiated the many steps up from the road we were issued a bunch of keys and electricity fob. We stayed in a room which had the most amazing views across the bay from the balcony where you could watch the low flying planes come in to land. The kitchen area consisted of a kettle and electric hot plate with random plates (no bowls) and 1 set of cutlery. There were also a couple of small mugs and wine glasses, pans and a handy large fridge. The bed was on a mezzanine which was accessed from some shallow steep wooden steps. The en-suite was clean but dated and the door did not close, let alone lock. The shower was basic but had good pressure and stayed warm. Although without a headboard, the mattress was comfortable but the pillows were not and the extra ones found in the cupboard had no cases. The toilet seat didn’t fit the bowl and hung off to one side which was challenging. To secure the room inside you had to lock it with the key and also when leaving otherwise it could be pushed open which we found if any staff had entered in our absence each day. The safe (once negotiated as the instructions were incorrect) was only big enough for passports and one of the keys issued was to open it in case your pin stopped working. Without a dining room, a breakfast tray was delivered between 8-9am each day which arrived with persistent knocking of the door and ringing the doorbell until I’d rushed down the mezzanine steps, unlocked, then opened the door. The tray always had an array of continental breakfast items but was never consistent and always had something missing needed to fully enjoy it. Be that butter for the bread (no toaster remember) or milk for the cold coffee and cereal or honey for the yogurt. There was always something amiss and the food wastage, from not only our room, but outside many of the other doors we passed was huge. Without a dining room this method makes sense but is an area that needs serious attention. What was a positive is the fantastic pool area and relaxing beds up on the roof with amazing views over the town and sea. Without a bar there is a vending machine on hand or a supermarket over the road. The staff were very nice and happy to assist with any issues which they did promptly in replacing our faulty hair dryer and providing a complimentary late check out. They also helped to take our cases up and down the many steps. Unfortunately our friends in a duplex room, and any other guests we encountered, all had similar random issues with their rooms.
In summery, this is a basic hotel in a great location but the standard is not reflected in the high price we paid and, try and they might, the staff are fighting a losing battle unless the rooms are revamped and issues addressed."
