"Booked 5 days in Marianna through EasyJet holidays during May half-term. It is a pleasant little hotel: clean and nicely kept. It says it’s a ‘family hotel’ but I didn’t see or meet any of the family, which is unusual for a small Greek hotel which usually tries to communicate with and maintain its guests. When we arrived, we were greeted very pleasantly by the girl on reception and a young man as well. We were given room 33 next to the pool. It was OK and very convenient for access to the pool. I did ask for a ‘quiet room’ - which was not taken into account as this room was not quiet. You could hear the music and noise from the bar and pool and there is no privacy if you want to sit outside. Also if you want to sit outdoors, you would need to leave your front door open. I didn’t complain as to be honest, we were only there for 5 days and we had a car so we didn’t plan to spend all our time sitting around the hotel. Because it was still quite low season, the bar was not open and being noisy late at night so we didn’t have a noise issue during our stay.
The hotel room was basic but very clean. It had obviously been refurbished quite recently. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The air conditioning worked well (we had to have it on heat the first two days unfortunately) and the rooms have a mini fridge. There are no other facilities. The maid, Cindy, cleans with care daily. The only complaint I had about the interior of the room was there was not even one drawer! I couldn’t believe it. Nowhere to put your underwear, swimwear, shorts! We had to leave it all in the suitcase and then there was not really a lot of space to even leave the bags flat. In addition to this, the sink was outside the bathroom and there was no storage for anything in the bathroom. We had to take a bag of toiletries into the bathroom and leave it on the floor when we showered. Space was very tight.
Breakfast was very very basic and we didn’t rate nor enjoy it. My son is gluten free and found it very limited, but even for non-gluten free it was sparse and provided on a budget.
The pool area was pleasant and towels are provided for free if needed but only changed once every 4 days. The pool was saltwater - which is always a bonus and there is a bar at the pool serving drinks.
The hotel is a short walk from the beach and the main strip of Perissa. Personally, I did not like the resort of Perissa. Kamari was a lot smarter and had a lot more going on. We only spent two nights in Perissa: the first was when we arrived and we were tired and it was cold and wet, and one other night to see what it was like. Some other guests we spoke to didn’t mind it - but they didn’t have cars and hadn’t seen the rest of the island much. I suppose my expectations are different as I have lived in Greece and been to a lot of islands and resorts. I think the hotel was good for a 3*, I wasn’t unhappy at Marianna Hotel nor did I absolutely love it. It was a pleasant break but if I returned to Santorini, I would choose to stay elsewhere."
