Eden Roc Resort Hotel

"This was our second visit so we had high expectations as our last visit in 2020 was amazing. We were so disappointed, this hotel is definitely not a 5star anymore. On booking I requested a high room and on arrival were allocated a room 128, on the first floor right beside the spiral staircase and lifts which was really noisy. The room overlooked the roof of the entrance and was so disappointing. I spoke with reception and they said we could have a better room after two nights. We moved to room 249 in the main building which had great views and was directly in front of the entertainment. On two occasions we had to ask reception for towels as none were left. On two further occasions I had to ask a maid for towels as they didn’t leave enough. In a few occasions they did not leave water and coffee was only refilled twice. The room was not cleaned in our two weeks. Sinks, shower, toilet, nothing was cleaned. I had to ask twice to refill shower gel. Definitely not 5* service. The hallway and stairwell up to 2nd floor was disgusting, covered in fluff and a build up of stones from the beach. The area seating around the champagne bar is spotless and usually there were between 6-8 cleaners cleaning at around 8am, surely they would be better split up with some cleaning the stairs! This was never hoovered. The Al acarte restaurant food is amazing and the fish restaurant on the beach is fantastic. The main bar is understaffed and there is always a queue which again is not really 5*. Even in 3* hotels in Spain there is table service even at the pool areas. Most of the staff were very nice apart from the very miserable lady at the main bar who was quite rude. Only went to the buffet one night as we couldn’t get booked anywhere else but it’s not for us but if you like a buffet it would be ideal as it is really large with a huge variety of food. There are always plenty of sun beds at the beach regardless of what time you arrive and lots of fresh towels. The beach area around the beds is really quite dirty with lots of cigarette butts lying around. We were there on the run up to closure and hotel only had 400 guests so that might affect the amount of beds available at more busy times. Rhodes town is €11 in a taxi or €2 on the bus but it won’t stop if it’s full so a taxi is a great idea and only a short distance away. Great restaurants in Rhodes old town. Staff members who were particularly good at their jobs and very friendly were: Viktoria, Vladislav and Kevin at fish restaurant, George at champagne bar, Kishan and Paoulo at tepanyaki, Panagoitis at beach bar breakfast, Elena at the grill. Thank you to them all. There is definitely bar staff who look after regulars and they serve them before others who are often standing in long queues which is very unprofessional and frustrating. We had paid on booking for a late checkout and found that we had been locked out of our room on last day. I was given another key from reception but when I went back up to the room I still couldn’t get access so I had to go back down and was given another key. After walking back up this key didn’t work either! I went back down for a third time and a maintenance man accompanied me back to the room where he reprogrammed the key! Not great service. We spoke to some staff from the Philippines (there were 24 of them) and they said the hotel pays for their return flights and accommodation as they cannot get any local staff which must cost the hotel a huge amount. They were all lovely people but unfortunately they are just not cleaning the rooms at all. To sum it up, the lack of cleanliness and having to queue for drinks at bars would determine that we will not return. Shame because it is a lovely hotel."

"We had this hotel recommended for our family break, but on arrival we were very disappointed that our garden bungalow rooms were not available until the following day, so we were put into basic rooms for the night without an apology and as we arrived late with 2 young children we just needed to get them to bed The rooms were not available the next day until after 2pm so we felt like we were hanging around all day and when we did get the rooms the keys did not work, so after a bad start we got settled in, our bungalow did smell of damp and needed remedial work the overflow outside leaked for all of our stay and in general I would say needed a full clean inside and outside the other bungalow our party had was similar and the curtains had mould on them The garden areas were overgrown and generally the grounds looked tired The fun pool with the slides was grubby and freezing cold water The mini golf area Astra turf was a tripping hazard and needed renewing and painting The park and mini club facilities were very poor the few little tykes toys were broken and hazardous the area also needed a thorough clean On a plus side the food and restaurants were very good and some staff were attentive others were just glad the season was ending For a 5 star rating I found this hotel is not at that standard anymore and personally would not return"
