"Me and my partner (both 22) stayed here in early June and it was fab! I’m a very fussy person when it comes to holidays so I’ll summarise our stay in a way I’d consider most helpful!
Rooms: very clean & simple with nice modern bathrooms. My partner is quite tall and he found the shower area nice and spacious as we sometimes find this is an issue. We were also lucky enough to be give a sea view room which was beautiful and overlooked both pool areas. Housekeeping friendly also who replace towels daily. You can also replace your beach towels every 2 days at the spa.
Entertainment: they had something fun on each night (apart from Saturday nights) including tribute bands, hotel contests, and quiz nights. The animation team were really lovely, all young with lots of energy for the adults and kids. When we were there they had a motown tribute band, movie/music quiz, and man of the hotel contest. This ran from 21:00 til about 23:00 every night. We could hear the music from our room but it didn’t bother us as we were involved most nights and it’s only 2 hours at the end of the day. After the entertainment is over the hotel has a nice quiet atmosphere. If you’re curious about the nearby hotels (including pegasos deluxe beach hotel & hotel calypso) it may be helpful to mention that we didn’t notice a lot of nightlife here, as it seemed very quiet when we walked by in the evenings. From our perspective, Blue Sea definitely seemed the most fun of the hotels within this area.
Location: the location was my biggest concern coming here as we usually stay closer to the busy areas when we go away, however, we were pleasantly surprised. The walk down to the strip is realistically 25 minutes (we both walk relatively fast) but it is just a straight line down and back no hills or turns. You can walk along the beach but we found this to be a lot longer. The strip had a nice selection of pubs, bars, and a few clubs. Not the craziest party area we’ve been too but still had great vibes.
It’s good to note that there are electric bikes and scooters dotted all around the hotel and along the strip area. We made use of this a lot instead of walking and it cost approx. €3 each way taking not even 5 minutes to get there and back so definitely recommend if you’re comfortable doing this. The roads weren’t too busy either so we felt safe riding on the roads. There is also loads of bus stops around the hotel which can take you directly to Rhodes town. We took a quad bike to Rhodes town instead and it took about 20 minutes compared to 50 ish mins on public transport.
Outside the hotel there’s a little shopping centre with lots of cute boutiques, tourist shops, a pharmacy, and a nice little cafe. Other than that, the outside of the hotel doesn’t have loads around it but it’s by no means baron or in the middle of nowhere, definitely don’t let the distance from the ‘action’ put you off! A big bonus was the water park being only a 5 minute bike ride away so no need to book with a tour guide - we just booked our tickets with Viator and arrived in our own time. This also meant our drive from the airport was quick, about 30 minutes and we were the third of a whole coach to be dropped off.
Food (all inclusive): the food was the biggest let down of the trip but please note: the food at Blue Sea is by no means bad - we’ve just had better. It’s classic all inclusive food, everything is fresh, and there’s plenty of option with the food being mostly similar every night. If you’re a fussy eater you may struggle a little bit as a lot of the meat options are quite different to typical English quinine. Saying that, there was still chips, pizza, and some form of grilled chicken every night. The pizza is also made fresh in front of guests and always tasted lovely.
The restaurant was super clean and there were two outdoor seating areas both overlooking the sea. The restaurant did get quite busy at times so we tended to go as soon as it opened when everything was fresh and guests hadn’t come rolling in, but it was the start of summer so you can’t really expect it to be quiet. The snack bar was good, they had hotdogs, burgers, ice cream, and pork gyros everyday with a selection of salads, fruit, condiments, and pre-wrapped sandwiches. The crepes at the pool bar are nice but the line was always quite long.
I’ve seen some reviews saying the all inclusive drinks were bad but I thought they were tasty. I only tried the sex on the beach and blue lagoon but both were fine. They had multiple beer taps with local beer (Zythos Vap) and fresh water that guests could help themselves to, as well as a fresh ice tea machine at the pool and beach bar which is on all day and night. Overall I’d say the food was good just not the best ever. If you’ve got kids I’d say there’s plenty of option.
Spa: very relaxing and calming atmosphere. If you book a massage you get free access to the sauna, steam room, indoor pool, and hot tub for the duration of your stay. Tsampika was fabulous and made me feel very comfortable. All of the ladies were fab!
Pool/beach: both pools were lovely and clean, we found there were plenty of sun beds and there’s also some stacked up on the grass if you needed more. They had aqua Zumba and pool games on everyday but it wasn’t too loud or annoying. I think the animation team got the perfect mix between fun and relaxing. Can’t really say much on the beach as we didn’t spend much time here. It looked super clean and I’m pretty sure the sun beds were free for guests (could be wrong). The beach bar is super close and has loads of drink options.
Other: the hotel had its own little shop which was our favourite thing ever. They stock literally everything you could imagine. Shower products, pads, tampons, hair brushes, plasters, sun cream, souvenirs, cigarettes, water, alcohol, snacks, pool floaties (which they blow up for you), sunglasses, shoes, towels…I could go on. Great addition to the hotel. The hotel also has its own padel court next to the annexe building which can be booked every hour - great fun.
Overall, this hotel was beautiful and I’m glad I booked it! We can’t speak for how it would be in busier school holidays but from what we saw the hotel handled its guests very well and are super accommodating. Thanks Blue Sea!"
