"We stayed in May and loved our time at the hotel.
Pickup from Ferry Port was easy to arrange, on time, friendly and comfortable.
Check-in was very friendly and efficient, and the team was all very smiley and friendly.
We had bid in advance for an upgrade, but on arrival, we had been upgraded further to a huge suite. This was a massive surprise, and we were very blown away with how lovely it all was.
We had Armonia suite with a lounge, two bathrooms, and a huge terrace. The bed was super comfortable, and we had superb sleeps.
The hot tub reset itself on day 2, and we had to report it. It again lost pressure and warmth (just as we needed it as the weather had turned a touch cloudy) so this was a shame as we had specifically wanted a warm jacuzzi in the event of inclement weather.
We had a turndown, which was lovely to come back to.
Food and drink
Breakfast was superb. The best Greek yoghurt ajd honey i have ever had. Beautiful smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Pastries, meats cheeses and bread along with bacon mushrooms, etc. Everything you could need.
We dined at Noa at Kyma on the first evening. The first impressions were it was a touch on the expensive side. Food was delicious (taramasalata and open pie being particularly good). The portions were big, so they probably could have shared a starter, and this did make the prices justifiable.
Pools. We did both pools at Kyma ahd Korali. I preferred the Kyma pool. Has a jacuzzi, long pool, and side pool. Felt more like you could enjoy yourself there, whereas the korali pool felt a little stilted.
Why the hotel doesn't get 5 stars
Pool/dining service. There's clearly a hierarchy, some girls are only allowed to plump cushions and maybe fetch water, others are allowed to take drink orders, I think give everyone some autonomy. If you're asking them to walk round checking on guests, give them the ability to take orders!
Pool area at korali was overly fussy. Considering it was windy, they persevered with cotton napkins and drinks mats. If you just wanted a drink, they removed everything else from the table only to put it back again. This is clearly a management specification, but it doesn't make you feel like popping to the bar for a drink to get away from the bed/sun. The setup at kyma was a touch more practical for this, and I felt far more relaxed there.
Same with breakfast service. Junior members were allowed to pour water and coffee. Other orders were taken by middle ranking employees. The last breakfast service was chaos due to the rain and everyone descending at the same time. One of the managers took our drinks order then nothing appeared and we asked another member of staff. No major issue, but perhaps less faffing and refine the ordering system. Potentially, it was due to it being early season.
The other huge gripe is QR code for the menu. So for instance, you look at one menu for food, one for snacks/beer, and the wine is on a totally separate menu. I dont want to be wedded to my phone. I want to see a pool menu that has snacks and a selection of drinks. I would also like to see a carafe of local wine being made available. I understand this is to prevent printed menus and aid sustainability, but one menu or iPad nearby should do the trick.
Overall
I think the staff all work incredibly hard, they are all friendly and want to help. They have to put up with quite a lot of entitled and rude behaviour and they do so with grace. Thank you all."
