"We stayed as a group of 5 at the Royal & Imperial Belvedere Resort from Saturday 30th May until Saturday 6th June with 3 adults in one room and 2 adults in the other, the hotel itself is situated beautifully in Hersonissos on the hillside and does feature lots of level changes however, all areas can be accessed by ramps, lifts or wheelchair lifts if mobility is a problem. One of my travel companions has mobility problems but the ramps and lifts made the journey around the hotel easy.
We arrived via a coach transfer, someone was waiting outside of the hotel when we arrived to help with our bags, it felt like a proper welcome to the hotel and the help was really appreciated. We were checked in by Georgia, she was incredibly helpful during our stay, she was always happy to help and was a friendly face at the front desk when we had any questions. We arrived at the hotel earlier than planned but Georgia checked us in, gave us our wristbands (ours were green bands) so we could get our holiday started whilst we waited for our rooms.
The two rooms we booked were overlooking the mountains, the rooms were spotless and modern and the shower was simply lovely, it’s the best shower I’ve ever had abroad and was again easily accessible for the person with limited mobility who I was travelling with. The beds were so comfortable and we all slept extremely well. My only suggestion would be to put a small bin in the main bedroom area instead of only having one bin in the bathroom but this was only a minor inconvenience at times.
The food was one of the first experiences we had at the hotel as we arrived at lunch time, we always found something to eat at lunch times and dinner but breakfast is the main star of the show. Breakfast contains everything you could possibly imagine, cooked breakfast, pancakes, waffles, fresh bread, yoghurt, honey, dried fruit, fresh fruit, overnight oats, porridge, I’ve never been to an all inclusive with such variety, cherries and strawberries were served at breakfast along side pineapple, melon, kiwi, apples, bananas, nectarines, apricots, the effort that goes into breakfast is just amazing. The only negative experience I had in the buffet was undercooked chicken from one of the cooking stations in the main restaurant, I made the restaurant manager aware and he immediately spoke with the chef, the staff on the cooking stations simply aren’t cooking the chicken for long enough and my suggestion would be to cook the chicken in the oven first and finish it on the grilling stations to make sure it’s cooked properly. Another person in my party went to a cooking station on our last night which was Asian themed and encountered the same problem, the chicken on skewers wasn’t cooked. Other meat and fish were always perfectly cooked at the cooking stations, it was just the chicken we always had an issue with.
The spa at the hotel offers a range of services, I had a body scrub, wrap and massage, the treatment was pleasant but it wasn’t the best massage I’ve experienced. However, the value for money was good, I paid €130 for everything and my treatment lasted quite a long time in total so I would go again.
We used the Olympic pool area which was always clean and had plenty of sun beds for everyone and there is a small mini market next to the pool which sold everything you could think of and was very reasonably priced should you need anything.
The entertainment is probably where my review will differ compared to a lot of other reviews, everyone in the entertainment team was very polite and Keah spoke with us almost every day to check in with us. My only complaint was their shows, every evening is dancing apart from a fantastic singer on a Saturday night. The professional shows such as the Cuban night and Greek night were amazing but these are external companies that are coming in to the hotel and aren’t apart of the hotel’s entertainment team. The shows by the entertainment team are purely dancing, there’s no talking, singing or interaction with the audience, they are all amazing dancers but there needs to be some variety as it’s very much one tone. The circus show is dancing, the Alice in Wonderland show is dancing, the pirate show is dancing, I understand they’re telling a story through dance, but please consider adding some acting to the shows. My other suggestion would be having some security around the entertainment area in the evenings, during the Greek night performance 3 drunk guests got on the stage at different times throughout their performance and I don’t think this is appropriate to expect a visiting company to deal with the hotels drunk guests.
We will be returning to this hotel next year as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much to all of the staff at the hotel, you are all amazing."
