Ourania Apartments

"The location was fine with what we needed to do as it was a short walk to restaurants,bars,supermarkets, beaches and local buses. Can't complain about the atmoshere once there.The standard of cleanliness was good both in our apartment and the grounds,also the bar/ restaurant area. Towels and bedlinen regularly changed and the surrounding areas around the pool were well maitained. Could do with more umbrellas and possibly some new ones as often a struggle to pull them up. Our room was nothing like the Tui website pictures when we were booking our holiday which was extremely disappointing. Very dated and lots of heavy brown furniture and brown nets on the windows so could really do with a makeover, get rid of the awful artwork and upcycle the furniture. Overall the value of our holiday was pretty good other than our apartment. No issues with noisy holiday makers on the complex but the plane noise was unexpected as no mention of this when booking. However, after a few days we got used to the aeroplane shadows over the pool and the regularity of the flights. Service by the staff serving drinks,snacks and meals was extremely good and they were all friendly and helpful....no complaits there as nothing was too much trouble. However, the receptionist Kallie was the most obnoxious, arrogant person we have ever come across working in the hospitality trade. Her response when we went to reception asking for a replacement key fob was..."What do you want me to do about it". She refused to listen to us then carried on looking at her computer screen. The final straw was seeing her reduce both a Mum& daughter to tears over a towel and walking off!!! The wifi in the room was not as advertised. It dropped out a lot and we had to reboot our ipads on a regular basis. The air con was efficient and welcome when getting ready or going to bed, Basic kitchen equipment was fine for what we wanted to prepare lunch and make coffee. Overall, we enoyed our holiday but our apartment at Ourania didn't meet up to our expectations when booking so will not be returning. We will be talking to Hays Travel who wd booked with lointing out the misleading photos on the Tui website"

"This place should never be considered just a 2-star property – it far exceeds that in our opinion. We stayed in Room 407, and it was huge, bright, and spotlessly clean. There was an incredible amount of wardrobe and storage space, and the bathroom was also a great size. It was lovely to arrive and find thoughtful touches like a clean tea towel, a new sponge, and washing-up liquid already provided. The balcony was much bigger than expected, with chairs, a table, a washing line, and pegs. Inside, the apartment had two sofas, a dining table and chairs, a TV, and air conditioning. If four people are staying, both air conditioning units are included. As there were only two of us, we just used the bedroom unit, which was more than enough, even in the 30°C July heat. If needed, you can pay to use both units. On our last day, we paid €50 for a late checkout. Although we had to move to a smaller room, it was still a lovely apartment and would have been absolutely fine for a two-week stay. The staff are what really make this place special. Every single member of the team was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Sophia at the pool bar made one of our evenings unforgettable by playing songs we requested from her own Spotify account, through the sound system. Everyone around the pool loved it, and it created such a fun atmosphere. A special mention also goes to Kali, the manager. She is absolutely amazing. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and she has fantastic knowledge of the local area. She went above and beyond throughout our stay. Before we even arrived, she helped arrange flowers and special treats for my sister and her husband to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. One thing that really stood out was how many returning guests there were. We met people who have been coming back for over 18 years! We chatted with lots of guests throughout our stay, and there was a great mix of families, young couples, middle-aged travellers, and older guests. It had such a friendly atmosphere. We used mosquito repellent every evening and, surprisingly for me, I didn’t get bitten once. I usually get lots of bites that swell badly, so that was a huge bonus! The grounds are absolutely immaculate. They combine beautifully maintained lawns and modern lighting with traditional cobbled paths and pretty stone arches. It’s honestly one of the nicest apartment complexes we’ve stayed in. The pool is a great size and lovely and warm (sometimes almost too warm in the July heat!), but thankfully the poolside shower is freezing cold, which was perfect for cooling down. Guests also leave inflatable pool floats behind, so there were always plenty for everyone to enjoy. The bar and snack area is excellent, serving food and drinks from 8am until 10pm. Everything we ate was really nice, and they also showed the World Cup and other sports on the TVs throughout the day. The location couldn’t have been better. It’s only around a five-minute walk to the beach, as well as plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops. We also explored further afield. We took a taxi to Hersonissis to visit Med Café after seeing it on TikTok. The views were beautiful, although it was quite expensive—you definitely pay for the location! Kali recommended lots of other fantastic places to eat that offered much better value. Ordering taxis was incredibly easy using WhatsApp. They replied within seconds every time, and the service was excellent. One of our favourite days was spent at Arina Beach, about 10 minutes away by taxi. Two Sunbeds with thick padded mattresses and an umbrella were only €10, there was plenty of shade right by the shoreline, and the connected beach bar and restaurant brought food and drinks directly to our beds all day. We had breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks and stayed until after 8pm. Our total bill for the two of us was only around £60, which we thought was excellent value. The airport transfer took around 40 minutes because of multiple hotel drop-offs, but a direct taxi would only take around 20 minutes. Overall, we absolutely loved our holiday. The apartments are clean, spacious, beautifully maintained, and in a fantastic location, but it’s the wonderful staff who really make this place stand out. We would recommend Ourania Apartments without hesitation and would happily return ourselves."

"We are about to leave this little gem of a holiday, our apartment wasn’t ready on arrival, but we were given a superior room for the first night and free drinks for our trouble. The next day we moved to a standard room which was clean and functional, good air con in bedroom, nice kitchen area, seating and a balcony. I cannot rate highly enough how nice the staff are here. Sofia, Stelios and Stella, not to mention Kalli who was more than helpful when organising another room for us for a late check out. The food here is good, not an extensive menu but all freshly cooked and tasty. Shops and restaurants are within a 10 min walk but there are more a 20 min walk away. It cost us €10 to go to the town centre of Gouvres where there are more shops. Whilst here we visited Stallis via taxi costing €35 each way, there is a bus but it was too hot to wait. Pool area is clean with plenty of sunbeds, not many umbrellas but we didn’t want those anyway. If you enjoy small and friendly this is the place to go."
