"We booked a swim up room with a late checkout 12 mo that ago, to coincide with our 10th wedding anniversary, and we got married in Kos. After reading some forums we emailed the hotel to ask if they could give us a room that had sun in the afternoon, explaining about our wedding anniversary and they said they would try.
We checked in quite easy, and were shown to our room 2603. Unfortunately our request wasn't acted upon as by 3pm the sun had gone behind the building. The room itself is small, but not too much of an issue as we came to enjoy the sun. The real problem is the bathroom. It's got a nice sink for 2 people, a lovely shower, however to get to the sink or toilet you have to open the door, step into the shower, close the door then do what you need. Far from ideal. Sliding doors may be a better option? You do get Beth robes and slippers which were a nice touch.
The swim up pool is fantastic. The loungers supplied with the room and at the other pools are also fantastic.
We did get 2 bottles of water in our fridge and then most days we got a single bottle, despite having drunk the previous days. Other reviews mention getting 2 bottles so a little inconsistent.
I see other reviews having animals made from towels and things whereas we had nothing like that. In fact one day we had one bath towel and 4 tiny hand towels. We didn't realise this until my wife had her shower and I went to get a towel. Had to use all 4 hand towels to dry myself. I even had to ask reception to refill the coffee in the room. Again small inconsistencies.
On the day of our wedding anniversary a waiter did appear mid morning with a nice cake for us to share and a small note with well wishes on it. I did notice on a previous review that a woman and her boyfriend got a 2 night room upgrade for a jog standard anniversary. Another inconsistency.
The drinks are hit and miss. The beer is weak, the red wine isn't the best, and again seemed quite weak. The cocktails were good however full of sugar.
A huge thanks has to go to Elisa from the adult pool bar. She was fantastic and is a huge credit to the hotel. She made fantastic drinks, always with a smile on her face and entertained all customers.
The food is also hit and miss, and very repetitive. One night was supposed to be oriental night but was changed to international, however there was a Bolognese chilli (?), plenty of fish, and in fact most dishes contained chilli. I'm not sure what was international about it. The fish nights was possibly the worst as my wife doesn't like fish, so that was a let down. I did notice quite a lot of adults eating chicken nuggets that night.
The 2 ala carte restaurants were really good. I think we both preferred the Mediterranean one to the Italian, but that's personal choice.
The entertainment is where this place needs to up their game. It's so repetitive. We were there 8 nights and saw all acts twice. The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is atrocious. I'm quite good at quizzes but the first week nobody got past 2 questions. The second week they got to question 4, but that was because they asked the same questions from the previous week. The Greek dancers were exactly the same as the previous week. Same dancers. Same dancing.
One act actually started about 20 minutes early, and it was it by chance we caught it.
The drinks service in the evening is atrociously slow. On our first night we tried to order at the bar and were told it was table service. We ordered a red wine and a vodka diet coke and it took 20 minutes to arrive. The waiters and waitresses are very busy. There's just not enough of them. We would go to the bar every so often and get served however on the 6th night the server who had served us multiple times in a week said he couldn't serve us as it was hotel policy. We were served by a waiter at our table, and the server continued to serve other customers! Yet another inconsistency!
As we booked late check out we went to enquire what time this was till. The receptionist told us that there was no guarantee we would keep our room and we may have to pack, move and get out what we needed for the day before repacking. Eventually they let us keep our own room till 6pm.
When we did check out there was no thank you for your stay, how was your stay etc.
Most staff do work really hard and they are all friendly.
However there are too many issues to make this hotel perfect. My wife insisted I give this 4 stars. Personally I would give it half a star less.
Would I recommend this place, I'm not sure. I'd have to think on that."
