"It’s always a worry when you book a hotel abroad in a country you’ve never been to but I had absolutely no reason to worry because Hotel Régence Etoile was lovely.
When we arrived we were welcomed and they stored our bags so we could enjoy Paris whilst we awaited the check in time. We were reminded of the free Wi-Fi, shown how to access the hotel amenities and there were free snacks and water on the side in reception for guests. All the staff we met whilst there were kind, welcoming and accommodating.
When we returned for check-in our room was at the front of the building on floor 3 (room 305) the rooms are on the small side but they were very well presented, clean and had everything you could need. The room had a Juliet balcony which was very pretty and you could see the Arc de Triomphe that was just a two minute walk up the road. The bed was incredibly comfortable- wish I could have brought it and the pillows home! Breakfast was served downstairs from 7-10am, as a vegetarian I often find that there is not a lot for me to eat at the breakfast when I go abroad but here I had plenty of options from pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereal etc and everything I had was lovely particularly the coconut tart (I’m missing that already!). In terms of location it was perfect, as I said the Arc de Triomphe (was lucky enough to witness the solar eclipse here) was a two minute walk and the other side of it was the Avenue des Champs-Élysées (walked under the Arc de Triomphe to get to it) here there are loads of cafés, shops and where you can jump on the city tour buses to get your bearings. About a minutes walk from the hotel was the Metro station - Charles de Gaulle-Etoile which we used to travel the city and get to the places we wanted to visit including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle and a champagne river cruise down the Seine at sunset when the city was lit up. There were restaurants around the hotel and a lovely take away across from the Metro station called L’Arc Food - their pizza was delicious.
The only slight downside for some people would be that at night it can be very noisy outside the hotel because of the bars and restaurants nearby, this did not bother us. We slept extremely well every night we were there because of the walking and activities during the day and how comfortable the room was. It may bother others but generally I don’t think it was an issue.
All in all we loved our stay and would definitely recommend it. I hope I get to go back to Paris and when I do, I’ll be staying at the Hotel Régence Etoile again."
