"Location Macinaggio is located far in the north of Corsica. You can reach the small village from the airport in Bastia by transfer or rental car after about a 1-hour drive on winding roads. Those who love absolute peace and quiet will be richly rewarded in the off-season. Because this small town goes into hibernation starting 10/01. There are neither cars to rent here, nor any major attractions. The bus to Bastia runs only once a week and the taxi prices to Bastia are quite steep. So it is the ideal place if you love extensive hikes or just want to recharge with peace and relaxation. Hotel The Hotel U Ricordu is located about a 4-minute walk from the center and the harbor on a quiet street. It is a quite small, cozy, and well-maintained family hotel. The room size is not lavish, but sufficient for a vacation stay. The amenities, including a bath, shower, electric kettle, TV, and Wi-Fi, meet today's standard. An elevator is available for older guests or those with limited mobility who have booked a room on the 1st or 2nd floor. Attached to the hotel is a small, manageable swimming pool with a whirlpool, as well as a small snack bar and also a hotel-owned parking lot. Furthermore, the hotel also offers SPA and massage as an additional option for those interested. Service The welcome at the reception was friendly and helpful. The room service was beyond reproach, and the general cleanliness also left no room for criticism. Catering The breakfast was reasonable. Certainly, a bit more variety could have been offered, but the staff was always attentive and always replenished items immediately. The only negative aspect was the egg cooker, whose hot water temperature was still not sufficient for boiled eggs even after 45 minutes. The three-course dinner was tasty, varied, and sufficient. For some, the portions were perhaps a little too small, but on average, one really left the table well satisfied. We missed a "traditional day" a little bit, where the local cuisine and dishes could have been presented. We found it critical that the service staff did not intervene when hotel guests brought their dogs not only into the restaurant but also into the buffet area. In any case, that did not correspond to our attitude toward hygiene and cleanliness. Even the older and friendly female dog belonging to the hotel, which spent 90% of the day recovering from her exertions and was able to roam freely around the hotel, showed enough decency and was seen neither in the restaurant nor in the buffet area."

"Areas for improvement: the establishment is starting to show its age, and we noticed some shortcomings regarding cleaning in the room, the bathroom, and the common areas. Entrance rug stained / with hair on it. Presence of a dog on the lobby sofa during the night, which surprised us. Reception by management very distant. Strengths: excellent location. I would like to highlight the kindness of the entire team: reception, spa, restaurant, and bar, truly welcoming, smiling, and very attentive. Thanks to them. Huge potential but the general maintenance is not at the level of a 4-star for the moment."

"We spent one night in this very well-located hotel a few dozen meters from the activity center. The staff is charming and attentive at the reception as well as at the bar or restaurant. The pool and the jacuzzi are a plus. The rooms are decent, very clean with all the comforts (bottles of water, coffee, tea, kettle). The bathroom is clean with a hair dryer and accessories. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant where everything is fresh and that is why several dishes were missing from the menu. It is good with a nice presentation. In short, a very good stay at this establishment which charges very reasonable prices."
