"Not the luxury we were sold. Very disappointing overall.
We have visited Sharm El Sheikh before and stayed at Sunrise Arabian and Baron Palms, which are both the same star rating as this hotel. Those were genuinely luxurious stays, so we arrived expecting a similar standard. Unfortunately, this resort fell far below that level in almost every area.
Arrival and First Impressions
Reception was not friendly or welcoming. No one explained where to go for dinner, which bars were open, or how anything worked. The resort layout is narrow and squeezed between two side roads, with blocks of rooms and no open views. The reception area feels dated and underwhelming.
Rooms
Our air con was not working when we arrived. The blackout curtains were not blackout until we asked for them to be fixed. The smoke alarm fault was never resolved. There were hooks hanging off the walls, discoloured grout, dirty walls and doors, and a grim sink plug hole. The lighting is harsh and unpleasant.
The towels are scratchy. The sheets are bobbled and the pillows and sheets have a plastic lining that feels clinical. The shampoo, body wash and hand wash all seemed to be the same product.
The balcony was unusable because of mosquitoes. The so called Deluxe Sea View rooms are not deluxe at all. They are the same as standard rooms with a jacuzzi bath and a window into the bathroom. They are also noisy because of the restaurant below, the pool area and the bus reversing every ten minutes. The best rooms are in Block 17 on the top floor.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
Floors were cleaned well but the overall maintenance is poor. Tables and chairs are dirty, wobbly and many are broken. Sunbeds are dated. Ashtrays are eroding. Pool cleaning involves splashing pool water onto the floor with a bucket and mopping it into palm trees. The pool showers at the bottom pool are hidden away and broken. Yoga mats were dirty and the pier area was not relaxing.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is extremely limited unless you like a plain omelette. Lunch is repetitive. The main buffet serves dinner style food. Elements restaurant has a tiny menu of shawarma, cheeseburger, pizza, chips and salad. The beach area serves the same BBQ chicken tenders and chips every day on polystyrene trays.
Dinner options were disappointing.
Tiran buffet is small and underwhelming.
Gengis Grill is not an a la carte restaurant. You fill a bowl and hand it to a chef.
Masala was the only genuinely good a la carte meal.
Elements BBQ had wonky tables, no ashtrays, staff on their phones and no music or ambience. We also saw lighter fluid being poured over kebabs.
Drinks are poor quality. Coffee machines are inconsistent. Smoking is allowed everywhere outside, including at dinner tables.
Staff and Service
Many staff were unfriendly or uninterested. Some walked past rubbish or food on the floor without cleaning it. Staff did not offer ashtrays. Many were on their phones. One barman muttered about us not tipping him. We tip when we receive good service, not before.
The towel man was fantastic and the bus driver was lovely. Anastasia from Guest Services was very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.
Spa staff pester guests constantly, although their prices are reasonable.
Entertainment and Atmosphere
The kids entertainment lasts about fifteen minutes. The one water slide barely works. Adult entertainment is short and basic. Everything is silent by 11 pm. The animation team work very hard with very limited resources.
Karila and Vito from the animation team were incredible. Vito is full of energy and always entertaining. Karila is warm, positive and picked up the routines so quickly. They made us feel welcome and were a highlight of the stay. The off site trip to Hard Rock Cafe with the animation team was also a highlight.
Evenings at the hotel have no atmosphere. No one dresses up. Most guests wear trainers and very casual clothing. We enjoy making an effort in the evenings and having a nice experience with drinks and entertainment, but this hotel does not offer that.
Beach Area
The beach area is dirty and grotty with rubbish and even darts on the floor. It does not feel nice at all.
Hotel Shop and Facebook Group
The hotel shop is a rip off. The man working there claims he is TikTok famous. He is not. The cigarettes and tobacco are definitely fake. He insists the hotel would not let him sell fake goods, but they are absolutely fake.
The hotel Facebook group only approves positive posts. My warning post was never approved.
Value for Money
We raised our issues with the hotel and with EasyJet Holidays. Anastasia helped us, but EasyJet Holidays were awful. They said we could move hotels only if we paid the full amount again. This is unacceptable.
We feel the holiday was mis sold. Even staff at the resort told us we had paid too much. Other guests paid far less. Staff even said it is a budget economy five star.
If you pay below £500 per person, it might be acceptable for sunshine and basic food and drinks. Anything over that is too much.
Final Thoughts
We did not fall ill, which is a positive. However, this hotel is nowhere near the standard of other five star hotels in Sharm. Many repeat guests seem to love it, but in our opinion they simply have not stayed anywhere better.
We would not return and would not recommend it at the price we paid.
2/5 given because of the weather and the nicer staff we mentioned."
