"We stayed at Titanic Beach Resort as a family of four and came away with mixed feelings. There is a lot to like about the resort, but also quite a few things that prevented it from being an outstanding experience.
Room & check-in
We stayed in one of the renovated family rooms, which we really liked. It was nicely presented and spacious enough for the four of us. Check-in was late at night and went reasonably smoothly, although the resort had run out of children’s bracelets, which was a slightly unusual first impression.
The biggest issue with the room was the Wi-Fi. The connection was already quite poor in the main bedroom/living area, while in the secondary bedroom there was virtually no Wi-Fi at all.
A special mention goes to Tarek, our room attendant, who did a very good job and was one of the staff members who genuinely stood out during our stay.
Food
The main buffet is absolutely huge, with a lot of choice. However, there is one surprisingly simple problem: there are hardly any labels next to the food. With such a large buffet, it is difficult to know what many of the dishes actually are.
The different restaurants gave us very different experiences.
El Sombrero, the Mexican restaurant, was excellent. Both the food and the service were fantastic and this was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
Dinner at the Palace side was also a more refined experience, with nicer presentation, linen napkins and food that we felt was somewhat better.
Unfortunately, the Italian restaurant was a disappointment. The menu was very limited, as were the salad and dessert choices, and the food itself was underwhelming.
Drink service also varied considerably between restaurants. At Rose & Jack, it was often difficult to get a waiter to come and take care of drinks, to the point where it was easier to get them ourselves. The service at Cleopatra/Titanic Palace was noticeably better.
Pool & beach
Pool drink service was generally good, and Mostafa at the pool deserves a special mention. He was attentive and provided a level of service that really stood out.
The biggest issue around the pool was the sunbed situation. The competition for loungers was astonishing. By 6:00 in the morning, more than half of the sunbeds were already occupied/reserved. This happened consistently and is something we feel the resort should address.
Staff & service
This was one of the more inconsistent aspects of the resort.
We noticed that employees often don’t greet guests when passing them around the resort. It may sound like a small thing, but those little interactions make a big difference when you are trying to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
There were some excellent employees, but the overall level of engagement wasn’t always what we expected.
One thing that particularly stood out was seeing members of the entertainment team regularly using their phones while walking around the resort and, even more surprisingly, while presenting on stage with a microphone. Having stayed at other resorts, we found this quite noticeable and felt it gave the entertainment team a less professional appearance.
We also noticed that when someone who appeared to be the GM came to breakfast or lunch, several waiters immediately went over to assist him. Meanwhile, at other times guests could struggle to get a waiter for a drink. As a guest, this unfortunately gave us the impression that the priorities weren’t always quite right.
Entertainment
Another mixed area.
The beach party was genuinely a lot of fun, and it was clear that a lot of effort had gone into organising it. The light show was also very good.
Unfortunately, the Mrs Titanic show was disappointing and felt rather old-fashioned. We also found the entertainment manager’s introduction and dancing rather self-focused and unnecessary.
So there were definitely some good entertainment moments, but the quality was inconsistent.
Spa
We also had a couples massage. It was okay, but unfortunately not the relaxing experience we had hoped for.
The pressure was too strong for us, and because we were in a couples room, the two therapists talked to each other throughout the treatment. They also repeatedly talked to me about subjects such as working hours, salaries and working days. Together with music that was too loud, this made it difficult to properly switch off and relax.
One positive touch was that our children were allowed to wait in the jacuzzi while we had the massage, which was very convenient and appreciated.
Overall
Titanic Beach Resort has a lot going for it. The renovated family rooms are good, the resort is large with plenty of facilities, the main buffet offers an enormous amount of choice, and there are some genuinely excellent staff members.
Our highlights were Mostafa at the pool, Tarek from housekeeping, the excellent El Sombrero restaurant and the beach party.
At the same time, we felt that the resort lacks consistency in the details that make a holiday feel truly special. Better food labelling, stronger Wi-Fi, control of the sunbed reservations, more consistent drink service and a more professional approach from the entertainment team would make a significant difference.
We enjoyed our family holiday, but based on our experience, we would describe Titanic Beach as good, with plenty of potential, rather than exceptional."
