"This was my third stay at the Neverland Resort, where I travelled with my fiancé. Our first visit was in November 2023. Although we had booked a room at Alf Leila, we were eventually accommodated at Jungle Aqua Park – and we absolutely loved it. A year later, we returned for two weeks, because one week simply isn’t enough to enjoy all the attractions. Even then, it was clear that the owner kept investing in new facilities for children – new cartoon character figures and additional attractions were popping up everywhere. After all, this hotel is mainly designed for families with kids.
This year, we came back for the third time, again for two weeks. Unfortunately, this time we noticed a clear decline in the resort’s overall quality.
ROOM
This time we were accommodated at Alf Leila Wa Leila as originally booked. The room itself was “okay”, but the bed was uncomfortable and wobbly, and the pillows were terrible. We were sleep-deprived for the entire two weeks.
After three days we also realized that, despite booking a garden-view room, we had been given one overlooking the “promenade” with various shops. We didn’t make a fuss, since we only slept in the room anyway.
However, it’s worth mentioning that this part of the hotel has definitely seen better days and is in need of a thorough renovation.
SERVICE
During our stay, we mostly used Columbus Bar because it was the only place serving local beers – Stella and Five Stars – the only ones we actually enjoyed. The staff worked quickly and efficiently, really hustling.
Unfortunately, the second week was spoiled by one of the bartenders – a man with distinctive round glasses. Always grumpy, visibly annoyed, and not pleasant to approach. It turned out he was irritated by some guests who were overindulging in alcohol. The looks he gave people were honestly embarrassing and made us avoid the bar whenever he was on shift.
Thankfully, the rest of the team was great – friendly, smiling, and not pushy about tips.
RECEPTION
The reception staff who checked us in were definitely not suited for working with guests. Arrogant, unfriendly, acting as if they were doing us a favour. I don’t want to generalize, because we only dealt with two employees, but their disdainful looks were truly unforgettable.
FOOD
This is where the biggest decline happened. Compared to previous years, the food this time was a complete disappointment. Everything tasted the same, lacked variety, and simply wasn’t good.
This wasn’t my first stay at a Pickalbatros hotel, so I already knew that food isn’t their strongest side – they focus more on attractions and aquaparks.
We never went hungry, you can always find something, but the overall quality dropped significantly.
Additionally, the “late” restaurant near the Egyptian museum was closed. A new one was opened closer to the Jungle Aqua Park reception, which in theory should have been more convenient. However, the food offered there was nowhere near what it used to be. Last year there were hot buffet dishes and a decent selection. This year – only not-so-tasty margherita pizza and spaghetti. Really poor.
ATTRACTIONS
As always – no complaints here. The resort keeps investing in new attractions. They even expanded the VR zone, although this came at the cost of the nightclub that used to be open until 3:00 AM. A shame, because we had great memories from that place.
The aquaparks were amazing as always, and so was the amusement park – a true paradise for children and adults.
ANIMATION
The entertainment team at Alf Leila did a fantastic job – energetic, positive, and great at engaging guests in activities.
SUMMARY
Until now, I used to recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, after this year’s stay, I have to adjust my opinion.
It’s still a great choice for families with children, as the resort’s attractions are genuinely impressive.
However, I can only recommend it to those who do not expect high-quality food. If good cuisine is an important part of your holiday experience, this is sadly not the best choice."
