Elizabeth Castle
Perched on a tidal island, this fortress has played a pivotal role in Jersey's story, from its origins as a mediaeval stronghold to its use during the English Civil War and as a German base throughout the island’s occupation in the Second World War. Accessible by a causeway at low tide, it takes 15 minutes to walk to the castle from the Pomme d’Or Hotel. You can explore the castle's ramparts, towers, and dungeons, while inside, a museum sheds light on the castle’s colourful past, showcasing weaponry, interactive exhibits, and the island's maritime heritage.
The Porter’s Store
For something a little different, head to the hotel’s speakeasy – previously a secret late night drinking spot for those on the island working in the hotel business, which has now opened its doors to the public.
