Catalonia Barcelona Plaza

"This hotel is located next to the mall and a large Plaza. It's not really ideally located in terms of shopping and restaurants. I usually stay at the other end of the long street but this hotel was included with our tour. We noticed right away that the room smelled funky and figured out that it was the moldy shower curtain. My friend requested to change out her shower curtain and it seemed to help a bit. My shower curtain was not as bad the first day but after I took a shower, the next day the whole bathroom smelled like mildew. I asked them to change the shower curtain but it wasn't a new one so the smell never went away. After the second shower the next day it was even worse. It was worse a stinky locker room. The smell actually wafted out into the hallway. It was really gross. The shower head in the bathtub was in the center of the wall, long side so when you shower it blasts the thin shower curtain and soaks the floor. The bathroom has no ventilation and no fan so it doesn't dry or air out. There was mold in the grouting between the tiles. The toilet was the kind you would see at an airport bathroom with the pull down handles to flush and the noise was loud enough to wake the dead. Unfortunately it was all noise with a weak flush. I have no idea who thought this toilet was a good idea in a hotel with walls made of tissue paper. You could hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The room was so musty and the air conditioning and heater didn't work. Some of the rooms were hot and muggy and some rooms were as cold as a refrigerator, no matter what temperature was set. We ended up opening the windows that had no screen and crossing our fingers that bugs and birds wouldn't fly in. The bed was awful. We all had individual rooms but got 2 twin beds pushed together but not attached so they slid apart. The bed springs squeaked and I could feel the coils in the cheap mattress. One of my mattresses was sloped. The beds have only flat sheets which slid around and there wasn't a blanket or comforter. I nearly forgot to mention the huge cockroach we found in the room. Absolutely disgusting. Housekeeping didn't even come by unless requested and did the minimal. Photo of our cockroach guest is attached. I cannot believe that this hotel is listed as 4 stars. I have stayed at 1 star hotels and hostels nicer and cleaner than this one. I am not sure how much Globus paid for these rooms but you couldn't pay me to stay here again."

"I stayed here for 1 night after a business trip in different cities in Spain. I truly loved the hotel. Thanks to Linda to register me in room 240 with an amazing view on the square and the museum and fountains. My room was stylish with a lot of natural light, a very comfy bed and a spacious bathroom with all amenities you need. The pool on the rooftop terrace gives you the best views of the city. Staff was very helpful and check in went smooth. Location is perfect! Metro is meters away and connects you to all parts of the city. I would stay there again for sure."

They anticipated the guest needs and went above and beyond to make guest have a memorable experience. They did not just provide a service, they also fostered a sense of personal comfort and connection by exceeding expectations in their thoughtful and proactive actions. The hotel staff are quite frankly an asset to that establishment. The location is on point with the train station next door to the hotel and only four stops to Las Ramblas. I will continue to stay at Catalonia Barcelona Plaza for the foreseeable future whenever I am Barcelona."
