    La Rambla

    Taking a stroll down La Rambla is an absolute must when visiting Barcelona. It’s the city’s most iconic street – a largely pedestrianised boulevard stretching 1.2km from the Columbus Monument, by the port, to the Plaça de Catalunya at the northern tip of the Gothic Quarter, home to an abundance of places to eat, drink, shop and generally experience the buzzing atmosphere. It can get rather crowded, especially in peak season, but the great thing is that there are plenty of quieter side streets to be explored all the way along when you feel the need for a breather. You can get there in 5-10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. 
     

    Public transport

    Right outside the hotel is Paral·lel metro station, served by the L2 and L3 lines as well as the Montjuïc Funicular, which connects the city centre with the cable car station that takes you right to the top of Montjuïc hill, home to the resplendent Montjuïc Castle. You could hardly pick a more convenient spot for getting around the city. Even landmarks such as the Sagrada Famila, which would take around 50 minutes to walk to, are only 10 minutes away by public transport. 

    La Boqueria

    Widely regarded as one of the finest food markets in the world, dating back as far as the 13th century, La Boqueria is a true feast for the senses, featuring over 300 stalls selling everything from Iberian ham and patatas bravas to croquetas and fried squid – just to name a few of the delicacies you can expect, alongside a vast array of meat, seafood, cheeses and fresh fruit and vegetables. You’ll find it around half way down La Rambla, just around the corner from Liceu metro station – a two-minute ride away from the station right outside the hotel.
