Central crash pad
In Budapest’s Palace District – so named for its clutch of historical mansions built by the city’s aristocracy during the 19th century – Central Hotel 21 has snagged a pretty good spot as far as we’re concerned.
Drop your bags and head straight out into the city. This part of town feels like it’s bursting with culture and cool. Hop from museums to art galleries and from chic vintage stores to trendy neighbourhood cafés – there’s loads to explore without even leaving the neighbourhood.
But a visit to Budapest wouldn’t be complete without ticking off the sights, and thanks to the tram and metro stop that’s just around the corner, you’ll get them done with ease, too. Head to Heroes’ Square and the Museum of Fine Arts – about 25 minutes away – or hop across the river to Gellért Thermal Bath, just 13 minutes away by metro.
