Golden Sun Hotel

"We arrived with friends 28th August, it was quite late, we were shown to a ground floor, we were disappointed, my husband asked staff if we could have a different room, we were told to ask next morning. So next day we asked again, then we went for breakfast, soon after we had a knock at the door and we were whisked swiftly and efficiently to room 318 which was the room we had on our first visit, we were delighted. Love this hotel, see you in June 2026."

"We spent 7 nights, at the start of October,at the golden sun hotel & would never go back. I’m shocked that this is listed as a 4 star hotel, it’s not even close. The food was poor quality & limited choice, we personally struggled to put a plate togther, so we went to the restaurants on the kalamaki strip every night. We also thought the restaurant was too small for the amount people staying at the hotel. The actual room itself was nice. We had a balcony over looking the mountains & the sea, we had no issues with the cleanliness. When checking in, they were quick to take the money off us & get us to sit in the lobby, leaving our luggage at reception. We didn’t want to sit in the lobby, we just wanted to get to our room, but this wasn’t option, we just kept getting told to wait in the lobby (only 2 couples & a single checked in at the same time) we sat in the lobby for 20 minutes, was shown to our room, waited a while & our luggage still hadn’t turned up. We walked back down to reception to get our luggage because we just wanted to get out of our travel clothes & our luggage was still there (we were told not to take it because someone will bring it up) just an unecessary delay. We were followed through the hotel on our first evening by a member of reception & questioned to make sure we were guests of the hotel due to not having a wristband on. We were asked to go back to the reception desk, so checks could be carried out. Once they had confirmed we were guests, there wasn’t any apology, it wasn’t our fault we weren’t given a wristband yet we were the ones that felt humiliated because of this mistake made by the afternoon staff. Several other staff members were stood around like it was a show, not very welcoming at all. The pool area we felt was very small & could get quite crowded. We paid €30 to hire two sun beds for the day next door at the golden sun resort & it was worth every penny. The pool was massive, the loungers were more like beds, it was so quiet! We would recommend the resort."

"Stayed here from 11th-18th Oct booked as a spur of the moment decision that turned out to be an excellent choice and great value for money, wonderful pool area although a little chilly for me considering the time of year although some brave souls took the plunge we opted for the short walk down to the beautiful kalamaki beach as the sea was warmer and safe swimming, we stayed all-inclusive and there was a good selection of fresh food and plenty of it and help yourself to wine, beer and soft drinks , rooms very good standard and cleaned daily. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and short walk up the road to a large selection of shops and restaurants but what really made this a excellent hotel was the incredible staff so friendly and nothing was too much trouble especially George the restaurant manager it was a pleasure to have met you sir enjoy your hibernation."
