"We used the airport bus 01X to reach this hotel getting off at Kolombo stop. First impression was ‘OMG busy main road, noisy etc’ couldn’t see the hotel and a local shopkeeper told us to cross over the road and turn left and walk down the road. Astoria Hotel turned out to be in a perfect location. It is a two minute walk to the waterfront and the Ladadika district where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. There is a bus stop at the side of the hotel which will take you to the White Tower but everywhere is within walking distance. The hotel itself is clean, the staff very welcoming especially the young man and lady at reception. We requested a change of room that had a bath tub instead of shower and this was dealt with quickly and efficiently, for which we are very grateful. Breakfast is buffet style and ample. The breakfast room staff served coffee/tea with a smile. We would definitely stay here again. If you intend to use the 01X to get back to the airport it runs from the top of the road where it drops you off, be aware that by the time the bus gets there it is already quite full. We took the no12 bus from the bus stop by the traffic lights to the KTEL station, about 10-15 minutes away and got the 01X from the starting point so guaranteed a seat."
