"Iberostar Diar El Andalous, Tunisia (7-night stay before Easter)
I stayed at Iberostar Diar El Andalous for 7 nights just before Easter. Overall, it’s a decent hotel in a great location, but in my opinion it feels more like a 4-star resort rather than a true 5-star experience.
✅ The Good
The standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the staff in the food court and bars. The waiters and restaurant staff are incredibly respectful, attentive, and genuinely go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. A small tip really does go a long way and is well deserved.
The food itself is good, with plenty of options available, although it can become a bit repetitive over the course of a week. That said, the quality is solid and the dining experience is pleasant thanks to the excellent service.
The location is another strong point. The hotel is conveniently situated about 30 minutes from Enfidha Airport and sits in a tourist area surrounded by other resorts. It also has a nice private beach and offers two outdoor pools and one indoor pool, along with a decent snack bar during the day.
Rooms are a good size and come with a decent balcony, which is a plus. There is also a TV in the room.
If you want to explore, Sousse Medina is a great spot for shopping and local experiences, and the Kantaoui Medical Centre is nearby by taxi if you need medical assistance — it’s a modern facility with a range of doctors available.
❌ The Not-So-Good
Unfortunately, there are several areas where the hotel falls short.
Reception service was particularly disappointing. Trying to get assistance from your room is frustrating — calls often go unanswered, or requests are acknowledged but not followed through. On average, I had to call three times just to receive basic items. For example, there are apparently only five irons shared across the entire resort, which is quite surprising for a hotel of this size.
The rooms, while spacious, lack proper upkeep and attention to detail. Some items were broken and overall cleanliness was below expectations. Although tea and coffee facilities are provided, they are not regularly topped up — we had to repeatedly request essentials like sugar and milk.
There is also an empty mini fridge in the room, which feels pointless as no water bottles or refreshments are provided. Instead, guests are given a reusable bottle and expected to refill it at water filter stations located in corridors, which is not very convenient.
WiFi in the room was very poor and kept dropping. We ended up relying on local SIM cards just to stay connected.
Facilities are somewhat limited and inconvenient in places. There are only two toilets accessible to guests — one in reception and one near the snack bar. The indoor pool is located in a separate building, meaning you have to walk across the garden to access it, which isn’t ideal.
For families, the hotel may not be the best choice. There is limited kids’ entertainment and no water slides. Evening entertainment is quite dull, and seating is very limited — guests often have to rush to secure a spot.
The beach, while private and well-located, had a noticeable amount of seaweed during our stay and was not cleaned regularly, making it look untidy. This may vary depending on the season. The beach bar was also closed during our visit due to it being off-season.
Room allocation can also impact your experience. We were placed in a garden-facing room at the far end of the property, which meant long walks to reception and dining areas — not very convenient, especially with children.
If you want to shop outside the hotel area, you’ll need to take a taxi into Sousse, as there isn’t much within walking distance. While taxis and excursions can be booked through reception, they tend to be significantly more expensive than arranging them independently.
⭐ Final Verdict
This is a decent hotel with some strong positives — particularly the food and exceptional restaurant and bar staff. However, issues with reception service, room quality, facilities, WiFi, and entertainment prevent it from feeling like a true 5-star resort.
If you’re mainly looking for good food, friendly service, and a convenient location, it’s worth considering — just manage expectations."
