"Not one to write a review but feel I have to with this hotel! I would say this hotel is more of a 3* instead of a 4* hotel. Maybe a year or two ago it was a 4* but after staying here for 10 days this year, the standards have fallen and management need to take note, accept and make improvements rather than trying to argue against negative reviews.
The hotel lobby, outside seating area and rooms connected to the main hotel are lovely, stylish and modern but the pool area could do with an upgrade as well. The pool walls could do with a deep clean as you can see the grime around the whole pool which isn't pleasant 🤢. The pool water was cleaned once whilst we stayed there and was given no warning that the pool would be closed for the whole day for this to happen (hotel only has 1 pool).
The hotel states its a beach hotel which is beautiful however, if you intend to stay on the sunbeds on the beach there is a charge of €5 per sunbed as they do not belong to the hotel. There are signs leading down to the beach but because we had a buggy for my 4 month old, we had to go the long way round and there weren't any signs on that route to the beach.
The food was standard and not much choice, especially for children unless they like to eat chicken nuggets and chips every night. Even returning guests had said to us that the food had fallen below standards and wasn't the same this year as to previous years. The outdoor hotplates were shut and not in use whereas in previous years it was open with fresh food being cooked everyday. This was a massive disappointment to find out because we had still paid for the whole experience (which wasn't cheap!) but felt the whole experience wasn't given to us. Unfortunately I had food poisoning on the second day but Stelios was lovely and had some boiled chicken and rice sent up to my room in the evening.
The cleanliness of the hotel wasn't the best. The rooms were just swept and beds made; the beds were not changed once throughout our stay and i knew this because there was a stain that remained throughout the stay. The restaurant staff would wipe the tables with a dry cloth and brush food on the floor without even sweeping the food up. It wasn't until towards the end of our stay after people had complained that they used a cleaning spray (food remained on the floor).
I understand the bedroom doors are fireproof but they are so heavy and made entering/leaving the room with a buggy very difficult. Also something needs to be put onto the shower floor or hand rails added because my mother (in her 60's) slipped and nearly fell over as she was exiting the shower.
We went to the à la carte Italian restaurant at the hotel which again, was very disappointing. The food was below standard, the restaurant was short staffed and had to wait ages for our drinks and food and we were surrounded by dirty tables as there were no members of staff to clean them after people left which just ruined our experience. My mum was facing the kitchen/chefs and witnessed one of the chefs wipe the sweat from his face with a napkin and then handled food straight after without washing his hands! 🤢
We spoke to management to complain but felt that he wasn't present with what we were saying as it seemed he wasn't really interested in what we had to say. It felt that he had somewhere else better to be than to actually listen to us. Maybe because there was a couple in front of us who was also complaining to him that he didn't have time for us after.
Also just a heads up that if there is a wedding on during your stay (as they have the venue on the hotel grounds), it is very noisy and the music can be heard within your room, especially if your facing the pool, so take some earplugs because there can also be fireworks which are extremely loud!
Unfortunately I wont be recommending this hotel and will be letting my independent travel advisor who booked it for us know 😔"
