"I have just arrived back yesterday after staying at the resort for one week. I would like to point out that I had a great stay but I will give an honest review overall. We travelled as two couples for two birthday celebrations.
Firstly, we arrived at the hotel around 9pm on my partners birthday. Check in was smooth and very welcoming. We were given an upgrade to suites without having asked which was a lovely gesture. Greeted straight away with guest relations manager and exchanged WhatsApp number if we were to need anything.
The rooms, beautiful room extremely spacious. Very clean. However it did lack 5* touches. Mini bar as advertised is there but with nothing in it, not a huge problem but perhaps just take that off the room description. No robes or slippers which I do also think would have been a nice touch. Cleaners did a great job daily, towel art left on the bed daily was lovely. Nice bathroom, two toilets and no problem with water pressure throughout our stay.
The hotel, beautiful grounds very pretty at night. We stayed in winter but I can imagine in the summer when flowers and bushes are in full bloom that it’s stunning. Restaurants, bar and lobby areas are nice I would say more 4* than 5* as again they just lack 5* touches.
The buffet restaurant, nice inside always very clean and staff always friendly but table service for drinks for all meals lacked a little. Tipping works in your favour here which is fine as i have no issue with giving tips. In fact we gave many, and very frequently. Those we tipped could not do enough for you however if they were not there you will have a wait and the hotel baring in mind it’s winter was not even at 1/4 capacity. I think this may be a problem when it’s full. Food was good, all four of our party always found something to eat. Everything we ate was tasty but I imagine fussy eaters would struggle. Had my children been with me even though they are pretty good eaters and not scared to try new foods would have found it pretty limited. The selection and service in my option would take this hotel to a high end 3* rather than 5*
Bars, nice and clean. Staff were always lovely. However even at 1/4 capacity they were often running out of basics like beer and spirits. Bar service was good but again only once tipping, but those we did tip couldn’t do enough and we had some great conversations also. Otherwise I believe it to be very slow for the lack of guests that were currently staying.
Pools, the heated pool was a god send for us as the weather was very poor for pretty much the entire week. It’s so warm, 33c some days so it was lovely! So even with days of pouring rain we were still able to swim. The weather didn't affect us much as it is what it is, the hotel can’t control the weather and a holiday is overall what you make it. Pool bar was closed when it was raining though, it’s a long walk to the other bar to get a drink in the rain. But this wouldn’t be a problem in the summer I guess.
Entertainment team and evening shows, this is what makes this hotel. Their service is 5*. Absolutely hilarious. Couldn’t do enough and were constantly on the go. Loko was absolutely brilliant and we enjoyed chatting with him and several of the others regularly. Always making you laugh even on dark dull and rainy days. You guys are an absolute credit to this hotel. Your service did not require anything and it was top notch so thank you for making our stay.
The spa, unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience. Whilst the treatments were not pricey it defiantly wasn’t an enjoyable experience. We booked the spa for the second birthday of our trip. It was our friends 40th birthday. We chose a day in which it was raining so we could make use of the indoor facilities as upon booking we were told we could use the indoor spa and the steam room. On our arrival we were sat and told to wait. Waited around 15 minutes before being taken to our treatment room. The treatment room was cold, we were not given robes or slippers. Just told to get undressed and lay on the massage bed. The massage was okay, however when two separate couples in two separate rooms leave with a similar strange experience then there was obviously a problem. Both rooms were cold, the masseuse was coughing, sneezing and blowing their nose during the massage. In one of the rooms they were even whispering to each other. This is extremely unprofessional and not something you expect when booking a relaxing massage. On top of that after the massage hoping to get into the pool and make use of the spa area we were told no. Apparently it was under maintenance. Something which we should have been told prior to the massage. Not an enjoyable experience. However we did complain to the guest relations manager and we did manage to get a big discount. Would I use the spa again? probably not.
Overall we had a great stay regardless of all of the above. I have stayed in many 4 & 5 star hotels across the world and I know there is a vast difference between countries. This hotel would fall into the lower 4* end in my opinion but addressing some of the issues above this would be a fantastic 5* hotel. Thank you for a great stay."
