Point A IHotel Edinburgh St Andrew Square

"Our first time in the newly built hotel. Excellent location in the new town, close to everything, you couldn't get a better location. Friendly staff and as you would expect from a new hotel everything good. If you have booked in advance you can select your rooms a couple of days before arrival but obviously doing this means you are checked in and can't get a refund if you are unable to go. A great continental breakfast. No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms but everything else that you need. A nice comfortable bed. A tip for the future, on check out we wanted to to stay another night and even though it was 16.00 and most new quests had checked in, the price to stay another night was extortionate so we changed hotels at a third of the cost for a similar style hotel."

"I stayed with my partner in mid-October at this splendid hotel. The location is excellent; a 2-minute walk and you find yourself on Princes Street and at the Scott Monument. The center (the Old Town) can be reached in 10 minutes (or even less) on foot. The hotel staff is exceptional, available 24 hours a day, and very helpful. For those who are not comfortable with English, there are also Italian guys on the staff who made us feel truly at home. A thank you goes to Alex and Giampiero from the staff who made us feel at home, recommending places to visit and giving us all the necessary directions and information for a comfortable stay. The breakfast is abundant and excellent, with a wide choice of sweet and savory options. The clientele is mostly young, and overall it is a property that I recommend for the quality/price ratio, but above all for its proximity to the main attractions. The rooms are well-heated, just the right size, and the cleaning staff is very attentive. We will definitely be back."

"This former city centre office block is now the very smartly conceived Point A Hotel and is on the doorstep of bus, tram and train services. My 1 night stay on a opening promotional rate gave me a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The Reception area and lounge/bar is lovely and provides a positive impression when you arrive to check-in. My 5th floor room to the side of the hotel was bright and cheerful with a range of lighting options. The fold up chair was much more comfortable than it looked when hung on the wall! The compact bathroom was a manageable size, until it came time to sit on the loo!! Creating a bathroom within the bedroom has been achieved by what looks like the insertion of a pre-assembled pod. But said pod has a curved wall at the end where the WC is, meaning the user is right up against the wall. No obvious reason why a conventional end wall couldn't have been used to avoid this scenario. Sadly in the morning there was no hot water in the hotel. Another glaring omission is the lack of a kettle/hospitality tray in the rooms, made worse by no complimentary hot drinks at Reception. At this price point and otherwise level of quality across the hotel, this is something Point A need to seriously need to reconsider. If Travelodge can do it, so can Point A. I'd give this hotel a second chance once it's newly opened hiccups are behind it."
