"Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband and my elderly parents.
Overall we thought this was an excellent hotel for the price given its prime location. I was able to book a nice large room for my parents with a London eye view while we were closer to the Leicester Square side. Although I can see why some people may find the rooms a bit dated, both rooms were very comfortable and clean and had all necessary amenities with nice touches such as robes, slippers, vanity mirror, fridge, shower caps, shoe horn, shoe shine and tissues (which are sadly missing or not replaced in many hotels these days). Other more standard amenities all worked including iron, safe, ample drink making facilities and excellent climate control.
We had no significant problems and the rooms were serviced well each day (which again can be a problem even in many higher end hotels these days).
Reception staff were lovely and helpful and anything we needed was attended to promptly. The bar was pleasant to sit in in the evening and prices weren’t excessive.
There was only one member of staff (a heavily tattooed man who would regularly walk through the bar area) who seemed unfriendly but we weren’t entirely sure if he was bar staff or security 🤣
The only other negatives are that rooms have showers over baths so could be a problem if mobility issues, we weren’t too taken with the toiletry perfume (!) and the windows aren’t well soundproofed. That said, we did sleep well (beds are great) and soundproofing between rooms is excellent. Also, the night we arrived they were full so our room requests weren’t fully taken into account however they did manage to sort out a higher floor for the room that was initially allocated lower down so that was greatly appreciated.
Breakfasts were good.
So overall we were very impressed and I would bear in mind that if the hotel underwent a major renovation to modernise the rooms, I imagine the prices would be far higher in line with other newer hotels…"
